puppy problems?

I have a pup out of preacher john the rock, seems to have a really nice mouth. I am having a hard time getting him up on he wood. he is only 8 month maybe a little less. he doesn't always go hunting with my older dog, but when he does he will go to the tree and sit at it. doesn't open up on the tree or track so far. what can I do to try and get him up on the wood and talking??

Run some drags and see if he can tree them. If he can't I would move on. A wet drag is much easier to track then a wild coon. Hope he turns it around.

I have a six year old son in the first grade. He's at the top of his class in ABC's and numbers but he can't do algebra. What can I do to get him to do algebra and trigonometry?
