I've never seen an elkhound that wasn't naturally a tree dog. My kid's started treeing katydids at the porch light at three months. Will tree anything that leaves a sent.

Both Rat Terriers and the Toy Fox Terriers are tree-minded, and over the years, many of these dogs have been used to hunt & tree squirrels.
