Getting to where I am not as steady holding light in one hand and aiming gun with other. I think I would like to try a scope mounted light, any of your comments are welcome.

I use a small tactical type flashlight for gator hunting. I mounted it to my homemade bowfishing reel on a crossbow. Light is about 1" diameter, so I bought a scope mount at walmart that mounts the scope to the barrel. Its just a clamp that fits both, barrel & scope, then adjusted it to fit the light. Purty simple to do. I fastened it with a wingnut so its easy to change from crossbow to rifle. When hunting I carried the light in my pocket, then put it on when I was ready to shoot. I also have trouble holding the light & gun now. Shoot, I have trouble climbing steep hills, staying up all night,etc.,etc.,etc.

Not sure what your budget is, but I would recommend a Streamlight TLR HL (500+ lumens). This light attaches to a standard pictanny rail (amongst others). For example, I use a 10/22 and have it mounted on the rail above the action. If you really want to splurge you can get one that has a laser aiming light on it. This eliminates the need for a scope. These are very well made lights and can withstand the rigors of coon hunting. Lots of different options out there though.

You mean you're having trouble getting your carbide lite taped to the rifle LOL! I know what you mean buddy, It's not as easy as it once was for me either. I was pretty good using the cord lights when you could hold them and the gun in your hand at the same time, now they've gone and thrown a kink in the situation by making these dang cordless cap lights!. Let me know what you find out, I'm interested also but can't afford a bunch. Good luck.
It doesn't get much more "Gerry rigged" than this but I like this little set up I rigged up. It's a cheap led flash light from Wallmart that cost me about $10 and it's wired onto a small magnet I happened to have laying around. the light's only 3-4 inches long but very bright. I carry it in my vest pocket, when I'm ready to shoot I pull it out and stick it to the barrel and just kind of lean it up against the scope. It sticks well enough that it never moves.

Mr RLenhart, i thought you was one of the big time money hunters until i saw the barb wire light and then i saw the maalox bottle and i said to myself yep i guess he still is.

What ever works will work i use to duct tape the old 2 d cell lights to a gun back in the day to get extra light to see a coon.

I'm the same way,,lol,,I've been keeping an eye on one on eBay,,comes with choice of mount,,cord to turn on,and light that puts out 1,000 lumens,,only reason I haven't pushed the buy it now button is cause it cost $129 bucks,,but I'm closer to pushing it,,,lol
I bought the barrel clip from night light, and a 25.00 miners light off eBay. I clip it on at the tree and take it off and put it in my pocket when done,so I don't knock it off going through the woods. It also comes in handy for a spare light if you find yourself in the dark.
They are a little pricey in my opinion but there is a very bright light with a very powerful magnet sold called Stick n Shoot. Goes right under your gun barrel and it will show you what your shooting at.
Something like Mr. Lenharts setup but has a. extremely bright green light and very strong magnet. If you were serious about this and hunt varmint and use it a lot I would go with the stick and shoot. If for casual use I would make something up that clipped to your gun.
I can't see why Bruce couldn't add another option to the Boss light "A .22 cal barrel right between the two colored leds" so you can just look and shoot! That would be awesome, I know I'd order one LOL.

Yeah Ron, I'm with you on that brother! My hunting partner, Tim said he has one of those clip on the barrel lights. I asked why he never broke it out, he said he forgot he had it. With the price of 22 shells, one can't afford to shoot too much so I need every advantage I can get

10-22 Ruger...Streamlight Stinger...twist off mount. Works like a charm...suggest you tether the light to the rifle if you use a twist off. This one has never come loose, but they can and if so you will probably lose the light. The stock is an old Ramline no longer made but you can find them on ebay.

Holy s**t Msinc if you can't hit the coon I'll bet you can just cut the whole tree down with that gun LOL. This poor hillbilly just uses a youth model gun "one shot at a time" That's why my light is magnetic, so if I get mad and throw the gun I can at least pull my light off 1st LOL.

Now that's the best idea I've heard lately...magnetic light so I can throw the gun away when it makes me miss!!!! Gotta have one!!!!
Edit: it suddenly hit me...I'd need one of them for every gun I have!!!! All my rifles make me miss.
I got home from work today and was looking at how I could hang my Sunspot light on the hard hat from a barrel bracket. Heck I shouldn't need to buy another light, I have $300 in this one. Im looking at an old miners light set up and so forth, even go as far as to take the slip bracket of the Wheat head. Then I notice the swivel bracket on my head piece. " A BIG DUGH " I go down to my basement and put the light on my head and flip up the head piece, shoulder the gun, look through the scope, and low and behold I can see a paint can on the shelf at the other end of the basement with out being blinded by my own light! I will go outside tonight at dark and see what it looks like shinning up a tree. At 56 years old I still make things harder than they really are. Pray for me folks I will probably be this stupid for another 30 years!
Well just came in from outside and tried some things with my light and gun. First I rotated the flip lens cover on my scope to open to the side., then swiveled my LED head up to where I could see a spot in the tree in the yard and low and behold I could see perfectly through the scope! Even the under mounted red lens on the head works good. That was easy and saved me some money and less to carry. Wish I would have tried that before I exposed my lack of common sense to all you guys! Well no more one handed shots anyway.. Thanks for all your comments.
