Looking for rule clarification

I'm looking for clarification on the rule of minusing out. I had a buddy run into this this past weekend in his first hunt and the way I interpret it is different from how the judge did. The rule reads: dog is scratcbed if : a dog has accumulated a total of 400 minus. Now is that 400- no matter how many plus points you have or TOTAL SCORE of 400-?

Your plus points don't matter. If you score 400 minus points your done.

Ok thank you!! He had no idea and I wasn't completely sure. I always thought it was if your total score was 400- not as soon as you hit 400- regardless of how many plus points you had

Lol!! Knock on wood I never have and hope to never do it. He has been out of coon hunting for years and got back in it and let's just say he was really excited about the hunt!!
