Here in SE Ohio with 40 + years of hunting here my hounds on average strike within 200-300 yards and tree from 300 -600 yards Now those numbers shift significantly here in the months of December when coon stop moving and in January when the boars start rutting. But on average in the spring and fall, the above numbers would be pretty accurate. By the way, I live in hill country, so its not just a short walk across a flat field to my hounds, LOL. Its usually 30o yards straight up hill to the tree..
