TOP ACTIVE Reproducing redbone Alive

I know there are many top-of-the-line stud dogs, but what is everyones opinion on the TOP reproducer?
I don't necessarily mean the highest percentage of nitech/grnitech pups, because a lot of people are like me and don't comp hunt much.

I just want to know which male can reproduce REAL DEAL ABOVE AVERAGE COON DOGS in every single litter. I know the female is very important too. A good stud breeding a junk female happens way too much!

Just wondering your opinion!

HERE'S MY OPINION

There is no magic Bullett

And your chances of getting the type of dog you described with any stud most likely wont happen without a reproducing female.

Take a top female with reproducing ability and breed her to any stud and make him look good

I own a young dog out of t-top dark timber moose and one out of soggy bottom haze They both show great potential ones a year old the other is 6 mo and Im running an older male out of Haze and female out of moose each here and they have the goods!! Not perfect but there sure enough coondogs that sound pretty in the woods!! Im sure there are many others that throw the same Ive only experienced pups from these two and I like what Ive gotten out of them.

I agree Larry- a female is just as important as a male. But just curious what males are your top choices

If I wanted to identify great reproducing dogs with quite a few pups on the ground...I would look at the male and female reproducer lists...both historic and current.....but if I wanted to identify new up and coming reproducers I would follow the performance points lists....watch the dogs who are winning the points...and then follow the sire and dam lists to see where those winners are coming from. There are some real stand outs on those lists and they are a better "current" measurement than the reproducer lists.
The main difference between the reproducer lists and the performance points list is that the reproducers list measures titled offspring....and the performance points list shows who is winning the most in the biggest UKC hunts...because the more entries...the more competition and the more performance points earned.
I also like that on the sire and dam performance point lists it shows how many of their offspring are earning points. I think a lot can be learned from these lists and if I was a pup buyer or the owner of a female and was shopping around ...these lists would be a good starting point ....especially if your looking for a high performance competition dog because they track the dogs of each breed who are winning the most in UKC competition hunts.
These lists won't show you the good pleasure dogs so you might have to look elsewhere for info on them...but they do help identify individual dogs and specific lines of dogs that are winning the most in competition year to date and I think that could be very helpful to a lot of folks who are looking for a starting point in their search for a stud or a nice puppy.

thanks Richard! I have had my eye on Boone- he seems to have it all, and he is passing it down to his pups too... I agree with what everyone has posted. I know it takes a good female too! I was beginning to think nobody had a favorite male

Agree: The lists are the tool to use.

Someday I hope more breeders read the writing on the wall and use the list's.

Of course, you could also go with Gr Nt Ch Gr Ch Soggy Bottom T-Top Midnite Haze. But then Haze is Boone's Sire. Haze is and has been on those "lists".

I'd love to see Jet crossed back on her.. I'm fairly easy to work with and I'm not afraid to drive a little to get a cross made.. He's in my signature..

She came in heat Oct and april she's around 2.... have to check papers to be real sure the only reason she's not titled is because I have only competition hunted twice in my life and I always took my male but she absolutely embaresses him in the woods now. My number is 7657920546 if anyone would like to go for a hunt or has a good male.

I HAVE STARTED A LOT OF PUPS IN MY DAYS AND TOOK A LOT DOGS FROM PUP TO GRNITECH. OF ALL BREEDS,THE EASYEST FOR ME TO START AND MAKE COONDOGS IN MY COUNTRY ARE OUT OF DUAL GRAND HICKS RUSTY AND HE HAS NOT BEEN BRED TO THE TOP FEMALES,HE HAS HAD GOOD FEMALES BRED TO HIM,BUT NOT THE TOP END.HE IS ON THE CURRENT REPRODUCERS LIST,BUT ONLY 2 OF THE 7 DOGS OUT THERE WINNING OUT OF HIM ARE IN THE PERFORMANCE PROGRAM,3 OF THOSE PLEASURE HUNTERS GOT THEM AND DECIDED TO COMP. HUNT SCINSE THEY COULD WIN.

Some dogs that I have personal experience with that showed me they can produce the right kind are Jet ,Rocker,Burning Pepper ,After Shock ,and T.I've raised or hunted with several nice ones produced by these males. The hands on I've had training were pups out of Shock,T,and Jet.These three produced pups that were easy for me to start and showed lots of natural track speed and a want to get treed.Gotta have a tree dog to win and these boys here are all the kind that get treed quick and accurately and seem to produce the same.I've had good dealings with the guys that own these dogs too.Good guys that are pretty serious about these red dogs.Still curious about some of the other dogs out there and liking what I'm hearing about some of them.Red and Bus are here too if anybody wants some of that.

There are several dogs that are reproducing very well

there is one thing that is standing out right now in our breed though. If you look at the current reproducers list you will see that 4 dogs out of Dual Grand Rabble Rouser are there; Rocky, Haze, Moose and GD Red, not only are these 4 hounds reproducing well but there are others from Rabble Rouser that have not been bred as must that are also reproducing ie. Deuce. I think the strength of our breed is the ability to make strong crosses to good females both in the same line and to make well thought out crosses. Working together is the key for ongoing success!

Performance Lists, Current Reproducers List, word of mouth from pleasure hunters, researching papers/pedigrees, actually hunting with a stud, actually hunting with offspring from a stud, looking at/researching the mother of a stud.....oh my goodness.... This sure is getting to be a hard and compicated process. Whatever happened to just breeding your female to the closest male and hoping to get lucky?
