Bear stories

I read a story one time, may have been in full cry or American cooner. Talks about turning two redbones on a bear that was killing livestock. The story tells of men following for miles and miles in wagons ,on foot, and then a man brings a plott female to the race. They end up catching the bear and because it has a bad foot and holds it funny, the dogs bite that foot enough to cause a lot of damage and bear is stopped. Has anyone ever heard this story. The end tells how the man who owned plott brought her back and breed to the redbone.
