Although I think reimbursement would be the sportsman thing to do, I too have mixed feelings about the situation. I kind of feel like there are some associated risks that come with all sports, but especially ours with dogs and dark and nature etc. we don't typically see players with sports injuries expecting reimbursement from the pitcher that hit them with a ball, a linebacker that tackled them, Etc resulting in injury. That being said, I don't think you're wrong to follow up with the handler, but I don't think he would be 100% wrong if he doesn't agree to pay up.
