GRNTCH cast question?!?!?!?!?

Can their be GrandNtch cast at just club hunts not talking major events. And if so what are the rules and requirements. Just curious and if allowed gonna support some local clubs that could use more dogs.

You can but what's going to happen at a small hunt is you'll be a one dog cast because your going to be the only GRAND NITE there unless maybe you have some buddies you know are going to bring they'res to make it a hunt.

you'll have to have a non hunting judge if your the only dog.

Rules are the same as a Nt Ch cast. If you have 3 or 4 Gr Nt Ch dogs, then the winner will earn Performance Points. One of the goals of the Performance Point Program in the beginning was to get more Gr Nts hunted at the local level. But it didn't happen.

Supporting clubs is great, but the biggest reason many Grand Nite owners don't enter their dogs in local level clubs is because the club has to come up with another guide and a non hunting judge...they typically don't have enough of either as it is without the Grand Nite dog. They also have to usually give out one more trophy. In the end, it may not be helping the club at all, and in some cases the club might be going in the hole.

That's sort of the catch-22... on one hand you went to help the club out, with your entry fee etc. but your potential one or two dog cast just consumed a guide and maybe a judge.

I've seen people do this, but they planned ahead and got several friends with GRNTCH's show up as well.

Find 4 guys that want to hunt their GR.NT.CH and enter. Each dog puts up $10 and winner take all. The winner gets close to $80 with the calcuta and performance point and the club makes money.

In the recent past there's been a couple GrNt's at some of the local hunts. They were competing more for State federation points for Missouri, than anything. It was generally the same 2 GrNt's at each hunt and occassionaly another 1 or 2 would enter, since they knew there would be a GrNt cast. So, they didn't need a guide or a judge.

A GrNt can also earn Performance points. To correct what was said up above, you only need 2 GrNt's at a hunt to earn Performance points. There isn't much to be earned but if there are 2 GrNt's at a hunt, the winner gets .2 Perf. points.
