I HATE stupid people!!!!

I HATE stupid people. Last night Greg and I hunted Hoss on the WMA that we hunt 99% of the time. We turned Hoss loose along an old cornfield that leads to the river. Across the river sitting way up on a bluff sits a house that has a couple of house dogs who bark at us every time we hunt there. Usually they come outside and yell at the dogs or take them inside. Well last night the owner decided to yell at us instead. I hear him yell "HEY" a couple of times before I decided to answer him. I finally yelled back WHAT? to which he says who are you? I yell back my name and he says I can't hear you! I'm thinking SO WHAT!! I'm perfectly legal.... Then he tells at us "GET OFF MY LAND"!! To which I answer I'M NOT ON YOUR LAND I'M ON THE WMA!!! He yelled a couple of times to get off his and and I answered him twice... I don't know how the fool thought he could see me if I had been on his land it's straight down from his house to the river, he could have heard Hoss but he never would have seen us. Greg and I finally take Hoss off the tree and start to leave when I notice his light part way down the hill side. I gave Hoss to Greg and told him to go to the field that I was going back to the river and talk to this guy. Once I get back to the river I yell for him but he never answered back, I guess when he got part way down he realized I wasn't on his pressious land. What he doesn't know is I can legally go onto his property and go retrieve my hounds IF they swim the river.

Anyone care to guess where I'm going to be hunting the next several times I hunt??

Maybe?

The adult thing to do is go talk to him and get this worked out. Some people react differently and to get things cleared up before they escalate and possibly get out of hand might be a good thing.

HOBO your my Friend and I know you better than that. Go up to his house in the daytime and have talk with him. You will probably leave with permission to hunt his land also.

I think he only owns around 10 acres. His side of the river to to steep to hunt anyway. I just wanted him to understand I wasn't on his land.

This is poor advice. Never assume the worst in anybody...he could have been having a bad day, health problems, etc. Good over and introduce yourself. Kindness is something that will go along ways in every part of your life.

I KNOW PEOPLE IF THEY WERE ON THEIR DEATH BED WOULD NOT GIVE YOU PERMISSION TO HUNT OR EVEN BE ON THEIR LAND.

IT WORKS BOTH WAYS SOME PEOPLE YOU CAN TALK TOO OTHERS YOU ARE JUST WASTING YOUR TIME.

I HAVE BEEN THERE AND DONE THAT NO GUESS WORK TO IT.

Both VERY true. I have done this a couple times with crabby neighboring land owners and ended up with permission both times. Not to mention a good feeling about it, a couple new friends, and some good P.R. for our sport and hunters in general.

I remember a hunt in Oklahoma once where a guy, who owned I think 5 or 10 acres in the middle of a HUGE state owned area, met the cast at there trucks with a pistol in hand.

the guide and judge knocked him clean out in the road, he was a boxing champ, and called the sheriff from his cell phone. the sheriff met the guide and cast at the club house to take there statements

it could have gotten real ugly, I mean the guy was armed and ment to do harm, but he got a little too close to the boxer in his rants and pushing people...........and took a nap in the middle of a gravel road for his trouble. he was later arrested and convicted, armed criminal action/assult/few other charges, adding insult to injury .

Im a bit short tempered in these situations. I can take an a$$ chewing from a landowner if ive wandered on their property, ive taken some good'ns over the years. But don't chew on my rear if you don't own it. Don't tell me your buddy or neighbor or relative owns it and wants you to keep people out. We will not be friends and furthermore you can KMA.

He told them to go back home he would handle this the one snapped his fingers and said we are out of here don't let it happen again and away they went the game warden gave me a big wink and said yous guys have a good night I was swore to secrecy until now!!!!

Well ya got to be care with some folks that way. I know here in NC we have laws to protect us and our dogs but some states don't. Hopefully you can get it worked out and not wind up like the poor guys in Iowa a couple months ago that had both of their dogs shot and gps collars trashed and the sheriff nor wardens would do nothing about it. I felt bad for those guys in my state it's a 10,000 dollar fine and a felony per dog. Good luck and go talk with them.

I've run into this problem as well and it's always benefited me to go and introduce myself and explain what I was or will be doing. Its helped me make a few new friends and get some new land to hunt on. Respect seems to go along way in these situations.

I guess I don't understand why all these other people are telling you to go talk to that man.You was on state land a WMA not his land so nothing to talk to him about from my view point. Here in Virginia coon and fox hunters if your dog goes on his land you can legally go get it and not have to get his permission as you already know.I'd go back to that spot quite a few nights in a row just to prove my point to him.But that is just me
