Another Reason To Support The St. Jude Hunt !
First and foremost, this event is about helping the children of St. Jude. We all understand that. But you will find below some samples of emails I have received just in the last hour condemning us for our support. You have to realize the hospital is also receiving these messages. I would love to see a great show of support on behalf of our sport for this event.

Real people do not use their dogs to tear an animal apart....as do these redneck bubbas pictured here.

I realize you need funding to help children, but killing animals is not the way. Hurting one animal to help another is not a viable solution. Please find a non-violent way to help the children!

I understand your kennel club is sponsoring a raccoon hunt to raise funds for St Jude’s children’s hospital. I didn’t know that hospitals accept money from people who deliberately enjoy killing things for fun. You people organise this orgy of recreational violence on sentient beings every year. Your ‘motto’ Real Dogs for Real People beggars belief. REAL people don’t enjoy inflicting cruelty on living animals. You are all a bunch of disgusting thugs and shame on St Jude’s for accepting this blood money.
I hope you and the monster in the photos below all reap what you sow. You’re all cowards with your powerful dogs and your guns. We are boycotting Purina as a protest at their involvement in this slaughter of innocents. You people are no different to those IS scum in Syria who enjoy hacking off people’s heads and other revolting things.
Shame on you all !!!!!

Stop cruel Raccoon hunt to benefit ST. JUDE HOSPITAL!
This is a cruel and inhumane way to treat animals to use them for targets to benefit this hospital. With so many other ways to fund raise, why resort to such horrible torture to these innocent wildlife just to benefit. It's blood money!

I simply could not believe it when I read that there is to be a fund raising event, in aid of St Jude’s hospital, that involves hounds tearing other racoons to pieces in some sort of ‘contest’!
Any cruelty to animals is abhorrent to normal, decent people but that this event is to raise money for a hospital is even worse.
There are increasing incidents of abuse of animals throughout the US and it is not difficult to see why when citizens are being given the message that it is acceptable to inflict suffering an death to animals in the name of entertainment. There are countless humane ways of raising funds for worthy charitable causes and there is neither a need nor any justification for this offensive event.
‘Real dogs for real men’ – how wrong can you be, real men are the ones who show compassion to ALL living creatures. Real men do not need to indulge in cavemen cruelty – only little men hiding behind the courage and loyalty of dogs need to do that!

I am absolutely appalled to hear about this horrendous event you are planning to aid the St Jude Hospital.
This is a cruel and inhumane way to treat animals.
With so many other ways to fund raise, why resort to such horrible torture to these innocent wildlife just to benefit them its blood money?
The kennel club will release dogs on these animals and they will be ripped apart!
Is this the way we fund raise money for an establishment which deals with 'life'?
What a terrible message for our children!
Stop this now before it takes place.
The world is getting to know this.

I am appalled to to hear about the racoon hunt you have organised. I understand you want to raise money for the hospital but this is disgraceful, many people are shocked and disgusted that you want to show the children the 'pleasures' of torturing racoons.
You should be ashamed of yourselves these are innocent creatures and it sickens me that you are teaching children this.
Many people are as horrified by this as me and you will be hearing from many more of us.
This doesn't end here!!
I will be sharing this.
This will tarnish your name.

Your planned hunt taking place tomorrow should be cancelled and I would ask you to consider the reasons which I hope are positively thought provoking for you. Who is at the heart of this? Children? Do you really think that children want this violence against God's animals? I am an elementary teacher and I would guarantee you that all of the children whom I have ever taught would be utterly disgusted by this. There are numerous reasons that the event should never have been planned in the first place. As discussed, I don't believe it is in the interests of those who are at the heart of this. Secondly, do you know that the majority of psychotic killers begin violent behaviour by firstly abusing animals? So to brainwash a community into thinking that cruelty against animals is somehow socially acceptable is not going to bode well in the future. Thirdly, "real dogs for real people", what... you need a dog to prove that you're a real person? That doesn't paint a complimenting picture of people within your community, if you need a dog to make yourself seem important. Have you ever thought that having a pet should be about loving and caring for it, rather than thinking about what it does for you? Who cares what it does for you, it doesn't need to do anything for you to prove itself. Just care for it and let it be a calm, gentle and well loved dog. You instil violence in a dog and train it to catch and kill raccoons, do you want your children around animals who catch and kill? I wouldn't dare put my children near an animal who kills. What gives you the right to instil such aggression? Like people, dogs are born a blank slate and those around them determine their character. Which means that you are teaching hate. You are teaching violence. You are teaching abuse. You are teaching barbarity. The dogs would not naturally be like this, it is taught to them and I feel deeply saddened for them when I consider the life of pet dogs who are free.
I'll say a prayer for the poor raccoon's who sleep well today but will be slaughtered tomorrow, mothers whose babies could starve. You have no right, morally, to do this. I think that you should leave the innocent raccoons alone and consider something which would be in the best interests of everyone in your community, after all the raccoons are part of your community too. You have a duty to teach children to respect the environment and I believe this event is instilling a level of inhumane violence which isn't needed in the world. If you won't reconsider tomorrow's event (which would be a tremendous shame, and holy admirable if you should call it off), then please please reconsider ever doing this kind of event again.
News of your event has spread internationally via social media.
