Lightest cap light

In the market for a new light. Weight is a big factor to me. More so than brightness. I have a spotlight for finding those hard to find coons. Just wanting something bright enough to see around me good while walking and to find easy coons while keeping it as light as possible. What's y'all's opinions? Also does anyone make a comfortable bump cap that will stay on your head? Thanks

Two lights that I've had my eye on are the cajun bayou. And more so the cajun microgator but can't seem to find any reviews on that one.

Laser Torch 2 feels like wearing a ball hat to me and you will not need to pack a spot light with you. I just purchased the Bright Eyes Flame the big battery pack on the back bugs me wished I would have just up graded to a Laser Torch pro.Jmo

The Lazor Torch is the lightest cap light i've ever seen. What I like about it over all the other cap lights is the battery pack. It's not in a big plastic box like most are that's where all the weight comes from. Lazor Torch's battery pack is in a nylon pack which makes it very light. I think on a bump cap it weighs less than 2 lbs. it is a very well balanced light on your head. I looked at other lights at the Winter Classic this year but they where too heavy.

I just ordered the Sunfire Mini HD yesterday. I have a buddy that has one and he's left me use it. I don't think they get much lighter. It only weighs 16 oz. on a bump cap.

Very light and I highly doubt you'll even need your spotlight. Dollar for dollar the Sunfire Mini is probably the best light out there all the way around. Lightweight and extremely bright to boot.

the laser torch II looks like a good option as well.. think it weighs 19 ounces with bump cap and price is $165.. Cajun bayou light weighs the same and is $199..sunfire mini weighs 16 ounces with bump cap but is $240 but does come with one color led built into light I believe. laser torch pro weighs 22 ounces with bump cap but has 6 light settings and is advertised as a lot brighter than the laser torch II.. price on it is $260 I believe.

Cajun was one of the other light makers I was considering. They have allot of nice lights. I talked to those guys at AO. You probably wouldn't be going wrong with them. I just went with what was tried and proven for me. If you are interested in Cajun and aren't that worried about a colored led check out that Big Easy you can focus the beam and it comes with pop covers. I think runs $250

For those that have used the laser torch II. It just has two settings? How do u like that?? How bright is it and is it a tight spot or a wider beam?

Sunfire Mini HD at 16 ounces and a colored LED is a nice set up. I also bought the 140,000 LUX Spotlight to go with it but the spotlight isn't needed. I honestly can tell very little difference, if any, between it and the Mini HD. Although the Mini HD is advertised at 70,000 LUX that is the minimum and they are much brighter than that. I also bought a Mini HD for my Fiancee and she doesn't have a bit of problem with the weight of the Mini HD. Michael also stands behind his product 100%.

I've got a lot of good suggestions here.. just trying to stay as light as possible.. I will still be using the spotlight..its the boss flame spotlight.. my bright eyes light was super super bright but I still found myself reaching for a spotlight when I was having trouble finding the coon and often that was just enough to help me spot him way up in the trees.

That cap they have it on weighs almost 10 oz so I guess that weight is without the cap? but it says with the cap?

I am hunting with the HD mini right now and it is brighter then my kelly spot light.

the description says 10 ounces from light to cap so that sounds like its saying total weight.. it also says in the description that it comes standard with a bump cap so I dunno..the hd mini is definitely in my top few right now..which spotlight do you have??

The two lightest I have found would be the Koehler Wheat cordless or the Northern Lights Tech Predator. Both are cordless with the battery inside the headpiece. Both use a Lithium Ion battery and are LED. The NLT Predator is very bright and even has a separate walking light. The Wheat light has a special design so that it doesn't burn out or blind others eyes that are near. Neither have color for finding eyes, so you would have to have a colored filter if you want to shine them for eyes. They are not the yellowish tinted LED bulbs either...they are extremely very white. If weight is your main concern you will be hard pressed to beat these two. They are also both designed for use in the mines so they are very tough and dead on reliable...you wont even know you are wearing them they are so light in weight and they will absolutely not leave you in the dark.

Edit: The Koehler Cordless Wheat light is 5.0 ounces and the NLT Predator weighs in at a whopping 5.9 ounces {170 grams}

You know I've been buying a new light for months and finally just ordered mine yesterday because I kept reading these threads on lights and changed my mind every other day. LOL I DO NOT mean to tute Sunfire's horn any louder than anybody else's but one thing I kept hearing was how nice the color of white light it had was and when I tried my friends light out for a night that's exactly what I saw. It's not only bright the color of light is really better than looking in a tree in broad daylight. IMO

Check out the Boss Hotspot 3D on Bruce Conkeys vendor site on here. It gives weight, pictures, and everything you need to know.

If I am hunting with my Sunfire HD I do not carry a separate spotlight...no need. If I am hunting with one of the two lightweight lights I posted above then yes...they are not really for burning the leaves off. Sunfire also makes a good spotlight.

That's why I was so picky about the color of light I was getting. I don't want to carry a light just for spotting the tree. What I'm using to spot with right now is a High powered rechargable flash light that's brighter than most caplights and fits in my vest pocket but I even want that out of my pocket.

Sounds like I need to cancel that spotlight order and just get the sun fire mini. Are y'all using the bump cap with that light?

I personally prefer the bump cap over the soft cap because the liner holds the hat up off your head enough for heat to escape. You'll actually sweat more with the soft cap with a hard shell because it sets down on your head more. IMO
