Pine Meadow

Just curious what all is out there with pine meadow in the bloodlines? Anything with it up close or alot of it? I have a 3 year old male with pine meadow on top and bottom and really like this dog. I have more fun hunting this dog then any other coonhound Ive ever hunted with.

Looks like at least a few good redbones out of some pine meadow blood. Here is my pine meadow blood. Baxter has it twice on top and once on bottom. Also has timber chopper and turpin blood in there. I believe Trimmer is a litter mate to Baxters mom Izzy Belle.

Amos was big and loud and pretty. Tight on track. fast on track. Super hard tree dog. Straight chop mouth. but easy to call. Located with 3 to 5 double chops. Pretty darn accurate.Treed his first coon at 5 1/2 months old by himself and held pressure from another dog ( pup trainer) boo hooing all over the place. One of the top 4 or 5 coon dogs i have had the pleasure to hunt with on a regular basis in my life. If we would have known what we had we would have studded and bred him ourselves. we were young and new families pulled us away from the nite hunting scene. I miss the days of hunting him. We had a blast.

I'm kinda proud of those Pine Meadow dogs and all the dogs I see that go back to them. If you went back a little more you'd see my IKE dog, he would have been Pine Meadow Amos grand sire. just as Mr. Blair said a little tight on track, not silent, good treedog--IKE would bawl on track tho-never barked in the same place--opened ever 50-75 yards, drifting a track--lots of dog go back to old IKE, makes me real proud, but sure can't take any credit as its way to far back.

Hersh I recently talked to a guy about some of these dogs and learned alot about some of them including your Ike dog. He talked alot of good things about him and all the dogs that went back to him. Im hoping to have a nice litter of pups in April that has some of your stuff top and bottom out of two COONDOGS. These two here would make you proud also Im sure of it. Check my post on redbone pups for sale I posted their peds on there. Its not far enough back to see your Ike dog but you will prob see where he would come in. If you want give me a call my numbers on that page would love to hear more about these redbones.

I tell ya Hersh, the old ads on Ike was one of the main reasons we went up to Ralph Snyders place to get our first couple redbone pups. And we were very glad that we did!

Ike was out of a top litter as I recall, too. I think there were at least 3 littermates that made top dogs.

you are correct, may have been 4 . I believe that is the way to breed redbones, go with litters of coondogs, not just one out of the litter. I think it increases your chances of producing better reds. have said this for years, families of good dogs bred to families of good dogs. just my opinion. it works better.

Bo

He is out of of Trimmer and John Ingrams s Turpin bred female. Love him and want to try my best to keep as much as this old blood that made coondogs as close as possible as I can. Love this thread. Are there any pictures of Ike and others?

I had one of the littermates named Famous Penny. They were from one of the first breedings out of Famous Amos. I think this cross was made by Max Hunter before he sold Famous Amos to Roger Schabel. Penny was an exceptional squirrel dog and was used in squirrel competition events until she was about 4 years old. She was a good little tree dog and could tree a pile of squirrels fast. I remember one day we treed around 12 squirrels in a few hours. She had a dark red haircoat and a black muzzle. Smaller head and narrow nose and about 50#. We bred her to Timber Jack twice and they threw beautiful pups with the Timber Chopper looks. GrNtCh Penny's Famous Jack was from one of those litters. He had Timber Chopper around 12 times in his pedigree. That was a lot back then.

Since this thread is brought back up here is a little history on a few things on this post.

Right after Rodger Shabel bought GrNiteCh Hunters Famous Amos he ask me where he come find some heavy GrNiteCh Hunters Timber Chopper bred females to breed to Amos. I told him to call Glenn Bosley. Glenn probably had done more line breeding on old Timber Chopper than any one I knew. Rodger called Glenn and bought Comanche Red Rose. Shabel also later bought Bosleys Little Kate from Glenn.

Shabel bred Comanche Red Rose to Famous Amos 3 times. The first litter produced NiteCh Ch Pierces Mich. Red Toby, NiteCh GrCh Hershs Huntin Red Ike and NiteCh GrCh McCullers Red Magic. The second litter producec NiteCh Hoffmans Baron-O-Saron and the third litter did not produce a NiteCh.
