Went hunting tonite?

We decided to try our luck tonite. Temps. when we turned loose was 14 degrees and when we finished it was 7 degrees. About 3-4 " snow on the ground and a Northwest wind about 15 MPH. Only good thing was NO MOSQUITOES. LOL! We had a 2 year old Walker male and a 5 year old redbone male. First drop Woods, grass slough, and combined corn field, dogs covered the woods, crossed slough, and checked out the edge of corn field along the woods. Not a bark, but I got a little cold. Second drop along a half standing half combined corn field surrounded by woods. Dogs covered about 950 yds. between the field and woods. NOT A BARK. I got A LOT colder. Told my hunting partner "the coon are a lot smarter then we are, time to quit" he agreed. Was still better then sitting at home watching the idiot box. The next week it is suppose to get COLD here.

Too cold for me!!! Lol

I did hunt tonight in the rain with the temp in the mid 30s. Probably not the smartest move but I couldn't help it. Didn't turn loose until about 2 hrs after dark. Jeb went about 500 yards before he struck. Super cold track when he started it. Worked it for about 45 minutes over about 800 yards before he treed. He had a big old boar that I'm assuming had been out cruising for hot sows all night. I was very impressed with Jeb (not quite 21 months old) at the way he handled the track. Never lost the track for more than a brief moment a few times. I called my dad on the way to the woods and he said I was crazy for going lol but they don't make above average dogs by hunting in fair weather only!!
