I recently bought a young dog he is 16 months old. He is a nice tree dog.1st night ran and treed with the old dog.2nd night he ran and treed with the old dog. 3rd night he ran and treed with the old dog and even caught one on the ground. Towards the end of the night he acted like he was losing interest or getting tired so I put him in the box and went home. He had the night off for christmas eve and tonight I went out and turned them loose the first drop he ran and treed with the old dog we shot the coon and went to the truck. On the way to the truck he would not lead and kept trying to get the coon out of my hand so I got after him a little for it. second drop he left with the old dog he went about three hundred yards and then came right back to the truck so I put him in the box and went to the old dog when he got treed. I came back to the truck and turned them loose on the other side of the road and he never left with the old dog and would not go hunting. Any body have any ideas what the heck could be going on with him. I have never had any dog do this.

Was that coon in the truck? I've had young dogs that wouldn't hunt if a dead coon they could smell was in the truck; they think they are going to get to chew on it some more. Got a hunting buddy, put all the dead coons in one truck, not the one the pup is in, park the other truck away from the turn out, eventually the pup will go.

Ya the coon was int he truck. Maybe that is it im not sure how much he has been hunted either. Maybe he is sore and tired im not sure what his deal is. Maybe I should just take him for one and go home after that for a week or so and see if he has some more hunt in him that way.

Yep. Its the coons fault. Wether it was still in truck or not. He thought it was.
