Nite Heat

We had several hounds growing up out of Niteheat. Never had any problems getting them started. Good track great tree. Would be nice to get something close. Good luck.

I always felt like Nite Heat himself was a smart dog. I got to hunt with him a few times and always wanted one off him. Two things I remember about him that were different from most hounds. 1) he was a good tree dog but when you arrived at the tree he would stop treeing and be looking up watching for the coon to fall. 2) if the coon was out on a limb a ways, he would typically be right under it. Never understood how he could be so accurate doing that. Just something different that made an impression on me. Of all the big name dogs I got to hunt with he was one of my favorites. I don't remember how well he reproduced. That was a long time ago.

Nite Heat

Gary and Nite Heat were tough competitors back in the day. This photo was taken at the Executive Inn in Terre Haute, IN the night we presented the Purina Outstanding Nite Hunt Coonhound Award to them. Gary died as a young man that I always enjoyed talking to a the hunts. He was a fellow West Virginian.

Heat won it in 86 and the Gentleman won it in 87 , both were competitive hounds .

Nite Heat Pic

Thanks for posting the picture Steve. You left sunny and warm Florida for some weather in Todd that makes you think of when you were younger. You going to be there long. PM me and let me know, I was up there most of the summer, going back in Feb.
