big game hound question

I was wondering what you look for in your hounds.I have a 2 yr old female that is the wildest hardest hunter i have ever had she came out of the mountains of AR.I cut her the other night in a large section here in Iowa she went 6 miles at a average speed of 7 mph covered every corner of the section in a very short time then finally stopped an treed a coon. She is out of Whats Up Spot who is Beller bred Ive been told that some of his pups have been sold out west for lion dogs.Just kind of curious what you look for in a hound. She has to much gas for me here in Iowa. Well myself, I guess the "perfect hound" for me would be cold nosed, fast on a track, gritty but smart about its grit (what I mean by this is not scared to pull fur but smart enough to not get its self killed in the first fight), also smart enough to keep its mouth shut when it's cold trailing and then pour the mouth to it when it gets the bear jumped, deep loud bawl mouth that you can hear from miles away.

Generally a dog that hunts that fast means she is running over a lot of cold tracks as she is searching for a strong scent. My experience with lions is that you want a dog that can and will pick up a bad track and work it. Let's face it, there are not as many lions as coons so a dog may have to do a lot of trailing before the scent gets better.
An old timer told me that a good lion hound has to learn to be patient. I must agree as a dog working a cold track must learn to slow down. Of course, I should say that we hunt primarily dry ground and very little snow. If you have a fresh snow and can cut a dog loose on a hot track, she might do just fine...but then most any dog can.
Adios,
Gary
