Boone Valley English

I have so many people to thank for making this happen. After taking 8 years away from the hound business I am happy to announce that we are back for good. My son Raymond will be handling hounds again and looks forward to hitting the hunts with me again. My close friend since 1987 has decided to step back for a while and I am very proud to call John Ferrari my close personal friend & partner for many years. Tony Williams and I have talked more the past two months than the past two years. I look forward to making more memories with Tony and his family. I hope his son Cash and my son grow up to hunt together. And last but not least my wife Trish, son Hunter, and daughter Addie, who all look forward to raising pups and traveling to the big hunts with me. Trish loves to travel and is the best co-pilot a guy could ask for. She is very handy at raising pups and I look forward to watching her show our dogs.

I have been gone for 8 years to finish college, get a job, and start a new family. Not one day went by that I didn't think about hounds or friends and wish that I could be a part of it. But I knew I needed to establish my career so when I came back I could afford to do it right.

I have some regrets or apologies to say and I want to publicly announce them before I start this journey again.

The last time I was able to attend English Days I was handling a real nice hound and he treed and before we could get to him he had overheated. In all the chaos of getting him to the truck and getting to town to cool him down I somehow lost my wallet and all my cash and debit/credit cards. The next morning some English breeders heard about my bad news and stepped up to make sure I had money to get my family back to IOWA. I owe the owner of that dog an apology for allowing that dog to get overheated and not a day goes by that I don't regret never getting pups out of that COONDOG! Brian Gibbons I can't wait to see you at the hunts and apologize in person. Until then, I hope you accept this public apology.

As some of you know I have been looking for a female out of Triple X. I hunted with X as much as I could when Tony Williams was training him and I was handling Spike for Nate Flanders. We hunted a lot together and I had promised Nate that I would put more wins on Spike for him. Unfortunately, I was going to college and could not keep my promise. Tony Williams took Spike back to Nate for me... to this day I wish I would have taken him back personally and looked Nate in the eyes and apologized. For this I am truly sorry. Nate and his dad are stand-up gentlemen and I hope to someday get to know them better.

Mr. Del Hudson and Mr. Asa Briggs. I believe you both purchased pups from me out of Durango . These pups did not turn out and after 20 years I regret not giving you another pup or making it right with you. I know you never asked, but I should have just figured that was the right thing to do. For this I am also sorry. I hope someday we can work together again.

After hunting English hounds from 1987-2007 these are the items I need to publicly announce. The men I have mentioned are all upstanding ambassadors for the English Association and I am honored to be associated with so many of them. I look forward to seeing you all at the hunts and as always don't hesitate to come up and visit.

training Timber Valley Ten & Hanna

While I lived in Southwest Iowa I had the opportunity to hunt most every night with Dave Jones. We hunted: Pine Knob Durango, Timber Valley Ten, Timber Valley Hanna, Timber Valley Joe, and Dave's Gr. Nt. Ch Goodtime Luke. We always had pups and started dogs we were training. From the time we got of work to late in the night we were either working pups, training pups, or talking hounds. It was the best short 7 years of my life. Good hounds, Good Friends, and Good times.

We hunted Timber Valley Queen also, but in those smaller timbers there was not enough room for her to split off and be by herself. She was all coondog and wanted to split off left or right handed and do her own thing. Ten and Hanna would stay in the draw and tree every coon they came upon and Joe, well Joe was just Joe. You never had any idea where he would be!!! He had a great mouth and you could hear him anywhere he treed.

Luke Crawford starting hunting with us and many nights we would turn loose in the middle of a winter snow storm just to see if they could tree one. I loved the way these hounds could work a track and finish it.

Chip, I think it takes a big man to say what you've said publicly. You were then and still are a brother to me and you don't owe me any apologies. Put it all behind you and let it be forgotten, things happen in life and we make mistakes even when we have the best of intentions. As far as the SPIKE blood, I have a direct daughter here that just needs 5 points to be a nitech. and she is all-coondog. I will help you in anyway if you need it. No matter what anyone says, you played a major role in putting old SPIKE on the map and like I said, I have his blood here. Let me know if I can help you. We loved hunting him. I followed him to many trees. Raymond loved going to the hunts with me and I always loved having a good coonhound on my leash. When I took spike to a hunt I always thought he would win it.

Thanks for the kind words Gene. My family has been hunting with hounds since 1890. I needed to step away for a few years to get my life in order. I am very fortunate to have so many friends and very happy to be back in woods. This picture is of my Father, Uncle, and Grandpa. I am sitting on the barrel with my two cousins. wow

That is a cool picture, Chip. My dad or grandpa didn't coonhunt , but they hunted for meat and helped instill the hunting passon in me. I got into coonhunting on my own and i have two children and a grandson that hunt with me on occasion. We are hoping to make English days this year for the first time if things work out. Dave,

Yes he does. You have no idea how much of an impact you had on that young man. He is now 26 years old and went out with me on opening night. He hadn't hunted since he was 18 and he loved it.
He couldn't skin em very good..but many more memories are to come.

Good to hear from you, but sorry to hear you have retired. Maybe we can catch up at a hunt and enjoy some ayle? lol

I have had the privilege of training, hunting, handling, and breeding some nice English hounds since 1987.

I owe a big thank you to the people who have trusted me to do that.

9 trees

We just got in from making 9 trees tonight. IT was 38 degrees when we turned loose and 50 degrees when we got home.

After being gone for several years one thing HAS NOT CHANGED.... I'm still a bad Shot I couldn't hit the broad side of a barn tonight. Good thing I bought plenty of .22 shells this summer.

I am looking forward to this cross.

This should be a very good cross. We have had great success crossing Durango's daughters with Huck a buck and I would expect the same results with Rowdy.

I look forward to working together to make this happen when she comes into season.

I have had several text messages, emails, PMs and phone calls about this cross.

I appreciate all of the interest in what this cross will do for the English Breed.

At this point and time I will not be making a list or reserving any more pups. The most important thing is that we get pups and I will post the list later.

Greg, Thanks again for making this happen. I am very thankful you approached me and offered your Gr. Nt.

I can't wait to bring a shot of Durango and Lucky blood back into breed. Most of that blood is getting older and a new shot should keep it around for another 10 years or longer.

It's great to be working with Chip getting More Durango pups on the ground. I will post pictures and video of Kate a little later. She just raised 9 big healthy pups off a friend's GrNt. Thanks again Chip, it was great talking to you yesterday.

GrNtCh Hickory Holler Crazy Kate. My picture taking skills are not all that great. Going to try another camera next time. This was Kate's first night in the woods after her litter of pups.

kate has a big male dog mouth, short bawl track good locate chop mouth tree dog. She opens good on any track. She is still being hunted on a regular bases. She was bred to GrNtCh Combs Hardtime Eddie after we purchased her from Jeff Grace and raised a litter of 9 big healthy pups. Hopefully we will get a good litter from her and Durango, needless to say I am very excited Chip contacted me after I made the offer to use Kate in his breeding program.
