Gin and Doll V
Clayton and me took these two out for a run last night. 1st drop, they left and were gone for a while in opposite directions. Doll opened a started working an old cold track. She didn't go far and treed. We started to her and Gin came in to her and started treeing just before we got there. We searcher for a while, but if he was there he wasn't looking. We loaded the dogs and movedown on an old Dummyline and turned the dogs down beside it. They were gone for awhile and both dogs struck about 250 yrds in. They got the track up and moving pretty good. They moved the track in about another 200 yrds and treed. they were really sounding good. We got as close to them as we could and walked the rest of the way. They were treed up a pretty big pine. We shinned for a while, but if he was there he was not looking. Clayton's youngest son was with us and he wanted to climb it so Clayton gave him the ok, so he started up, but when he got about half way he decided that was as far as he could go. I remembered Jerry Clowers story and I told him that regardless which one fell out I was going to turn the dogs loose and I think this had him worried and he came back down, so we didn't get the coon. So we went back to the 4-wheeler and loaded the dogs and went back and went in behind claytons house and turned them loose. They went in a little over 500 yrds and struck, headed back toward the Dummyline where we were before. We listened to them until they were a little over 1000 yrds and decided we would go back to the Dummyline. When we got ther they had already crossed and were in some bad stuff. They worked that coon for over an hour and a half and for some reason the had split up on the track several times. We had about given up on treeing this one When Gin come treed right out in the middle of some of the thickest stuff you will ever see. Doll went to her. and they were sounding good. There was another guy Chris from Silver Creek, Ms. and clayton started to the dogs. They finally fought their way to the dogs. They shinned for a while , but they couldn't find anything. They made their way back out and we called it a night. We didn't see a coon, but we seen a couple of young dogs do some good work.
