I know im not the opinion your looking for but i hunt with it and i don't make a dime on the upgrade. I always liked the blue/white color better and to tell you the truth if it wasn't this bright I would stick with the other color. It doesn't change it to the old 5100 color, its more of a white/yellow and when you turn it on high its just a really clear white with no yellow. It is close to a natural sunlight color. It makes the color look the same as they do in the daylight.

I just got mine upgraded and though I had bad luck yesterday and blew my knee out, therefore not being able to compare in the woods, I went to the basement and turned on my Boss light against the wall. Now this Boss light is not quite as bright as my original Sunfire Ultra.

Having said that, What I noticed was that the new upgraded Ultra, when compared to my Boss light seemed significantly brighter, and I was able to see (detail) much better with the upgraded Ultra. I think it had something to do with the color of the light and the brightness combined. However I have not yet compared this light to the Original Ultra (in the woods shining trees.

But if I can get my knee to come around, I will do this as my nephew has the new Ultra without the upgrade at this time.

ultra hd

I am a big fan of the white lite also. I got an upgraded HD unit and took it out hunting along with my original ultra. From what i saw from the upgraded unit I was able to see more definition. Definitely brighter when cranked up and the color better also. The HD is the one I will be hunting with. These guys will bend over backwards to take care of their customers to.

Charles, I know this is off the subject somewhat but, I hunt a lot in the summer, one night, I will take my bright eyes flame (l.e.d.) and the next night, I will take the old 5100 bright eyes belt light and I have came to the conclusion if you want to see more coons eyes with the leaves on then use the older light, COONS WILL LOOK AT THE YELLOW LIGHT, 10 TIMES MORE. And yes I know that the pop covers help somewhat with the l.e.d. lights, but I can almost guarantee that I will see more coon when the leaves are on with my old 5100. Now, in the winter, I will stick with my l.e.d. flame. Talk to ya later, Greg K.
