It's with an extremely heavy heart that I write this. On Friday May 9th, 2014 the world lost a Hero, Dad, Grandfather, Hunting Buddy, and Best Friend! Fred Lingo passed away without any expectation. This is a shock to the family and friends who knew him.

Dad was a proud member of the BBOA, BBCHA, and the Limberlost Coonhunters Club. BBOA presented him with a lifetime achievement award last year that hung proudly in his workshop. While I could list many accomplishments, his real accomplishments in life cannot be measured. He raised 3 good children who are all successful, he was a mentor and father figure to so, so many people. He absolutely loved his grandkids, and loved working with any kid he could help. He was always willing to help anyone in need, and had never met a stranger.

His character and integrity live on in his family, and is legacy will live on through them. I had a good friend tell me when he heard of Dad's passing, that these coondogs do more than tree coon, they bring friends together. So very true, and I can see Dad saying the same thing.

We are all certain Dad is in heaven now, however, there is a good chance he is still sitting at the pearly gates with a cup of coffee telling St. Peter all his stories. Heaven gained a true angel.... I love you Dad, we all love you!!!

Services are at Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home in Portland, Indiana.
Viewing: Wednesday May 14 4pm-8pm
Funeral: Thursday May 15 11am (viewing 1 hr before funeral)
Memorials can be made the the Pennville Public Library

Matt,

I am so sorry to hear of your Dads passing. I only talked to him a few times but from the very first, you could tell he stood apart for the crowd. Take pride in knowing that he lives on through you.

Fred Lingo was a very special friend to me I met him about 20 years ago and He was the type of guy that never said a bad word about anybody but if you asked him a question he would not sugar coat anything. He would tell you exactly the way it was. He will be deeply missed Our prayers are to the family

I'm so sorry Matt and Sarah and family. Fred was always one of my favorites to see at a hunt. I don't think I ever saw him without a smile on his face. He loved those hounds but he loved his family and seemed to always keep things in perspective. Sure gonna miss him.

Fred was a good man! as good as they come. i always liked him and had the utmost respect for him. he told it like it was. if you really didn't want to know, then don't ask him. and as far as i can tell he raised a good boy also. My condolences and prayers go out to you and your family. Keep carrying on what the ole man started Matt.

Matt, we are so sorry for your loss of your dad, it is very hard to understand even when you know it is inevitable, many times harder when it is unexpected. We have great respect for your dad, and had a lot of fun on the hunts we were able to have with you all at the many Bluetick Days. He will be sadly missed.

Matt,
My dad and I would like to tell you how much we will miss seeing your Dad at these hunts. We had the deepest respect for your father, may God rest his soul. I will be hunting the male out of Flash and Spanky at Bluetick days. I am Very Proud to own such a Quality Hound. My Dad cannot say enough good about this dog!
