how to score this tree?

I was in a hunt this past Saturday and I struck and treed second I could barely hear my dog with another dog but enough to tree him about 3 minutes went off the clock on the tree and all of sudden I heard my dog what sounded like closer so I took a minus. After the tree was closed we walked to the tree when we arrived all dogs were there including mine but they were treed in a hole in the ground which is why it abounded like my DPG was far off and when he came out the hole it sounded like he was closer so i asked the judge did I still have to take the minus be cause my dog did not move it was just that he was in the hole and he said that he could not take the minus off which I think was a load of bull. So did he do the right thing?

You can go back and fix scoring mistakes if you see you did wrong. Thats what ukc tells me anyhow.

Yeah I told him that he could go back and take the minus off because my dog never moved but he did not want to do that because I would have been ahead of him in the cast and he wanted to set me back any way he could

The correct thing to do when he said no would have been to ask for a cast vote, if it was clear that your dog hadnt moved and the other guys were honest, the judges call could be reversed.

Any call made by a hunting judge can be overturned by a majority vote, and every handler is reguired to vote or be scratched.

i may be wrong but i believe you have to keep your minus. the only time you can call a vote on a call a judge makes is at the time of the call. not later on in the cast.

Vote has to be done at the time of the call. you Can't vote an hour later in the cast.

You and Mr Turner are absolutely correct. The OP should have questioned the judges decision to minus his dog when it happened and called for a cast vote.

I hate a cast that won't speak up and is afraid to rule against the judge....

The judge does not carry a big mighty stick...if he's wrong he's wrong!

The dog moved or it didn't...that can be voted on...and everyone HAS to vote...

Had a similar hunt a few weeks ago...all struck...mine and another got hooked..he treed his first.... He "assumed" mine was with his but mine has a big mouth... I never said he was or wasn't...the 3rd trees...the 4th guy walks up to the knoll of the hill and trees his...and said mine and the other moved and are way left...it was a very narrow point...judge minuses me and the other guy...we walk in and our 3 are literally within 30yds right passed the judges dog...judges dog is alone on a slick tree...of course he wasn't going to listen to melt argument that there is no way you can tell if them dogs were split or not and mine should go in for 125 on the split not minus! The other guy..it was his first hunt and he wouldn't speak up...of course the 4th dog was happy with it being the only dog not getting minused...my dog has a hard heavy chop...if he stops barking to love you know..it was clear he never moved...

You gotta speak up...if you don't some will walk all over you...
