Max Hunter 03/29/1928-04/03/2014

My grandfather, 'Pop', Max Hunter passed onto be with the Lord this morning. My Pop loved Redbones, The Redbone Community, and coon hunting. He made many special friendships over the years through his dogs and cherrished each one.

I've added a couple photos of my Pop. Feel free to post some pictures of your own if you like.

Max & Phillip Gray

Sorry Noah and Hunter

Sorry for your loss. I'm glad I got to meet him and sure enjoyed talking with him at a couple of Redbone Days over the years. Getting to hear him tell what type of dog that Timber Chopper and Amos were, that was best. He was a very nice man.

Sorry

So very sorry to hear this news. We have so few of the men left that knew the dogs from the past. Without People like Max we would not have what we do today, well bred hounds with solid traits.
I will be thinking of your family and our prayers are with you all.

Noah & Hunter

I am so very sorry to read this I know how much Max loved the redbone breed. I remember some of the stories he told me and how proud he was about your kitchen table he made. I am very proud that I got to meet and get to talk dogs with him. I will be down your way in a few weeks hope to swing by and see the family.

Very sorry for your loss. One of my all time favorite moments was when I was hunting the Roy dog myself and Harold co owned at Redbone Days and Max was at the truck listening to the hounds. It meant the world to me to get to meet Max and have him tell how he thought Roy was a very nice hound. That night It felt like I was in the presence of a true legend and I loved listening to the stories of Timber Chopper and Famous Amos.

Timber Chopper has his owner under the tree now---

I was lucky to meet "Pop" a few times at different hunts. He was with Mr.Gray a few times and with you the day I bought the bench from you. He was always open to look at pedigrees and go over the different hounds in it. I'm sure he now gets to TC's trees with out the cane anymore.

You have many Great Memories that no one can ever take from you, enjoy them.

So sorry and sad to hear about Mr. Max. My thoughts and prayers are with the family.
I to have enjoyed talking to Mr. Max at a few hunts and many a times on the phone up to now and I really was thrilled the couple of times that Mr. Max and Noah came by and hunted with me and Roger Gibson on their way home from Philip Gray's. He has shared many a stories and has passed on alot of Redbone history with me and for that I am thankful. My friend you will be missed.

Noah, these are the pictures I tried to email you that didn't go through.

Sure

sorry to hear of the passing of Max. Went up a few times and hunted with Max. When I first started hunting redbones ole Timber Chopper was in the lime light. I hunted with several of his off springs. Never will forget the time I hunted with Max and Amos before he was famous. Definitely an icon of the redbone breed and a fine gentleman as well.

"" The Redbone breed has lost an icon! Max and his brother Happy Hunter did as much for the Redbone breed as anyone. You could literally say they put the 'Tree' in the Redbone Coonhound. As a young man, Max took me under HIS wing and I will never forget that. Max and Happy Hunter, Otis Owen, Glen Bosley, Mr Hughes, Wayne Campbell, and Ron Martin, you could say Virginia is the Redbone capital of the world! I do hope Noah and his brother Hunter Cunningham keep up the fine family tradition. You are in my thoughts and prayers. "" Tim Brewin 'Sundown Redbone Kennel'

The heavens declare the glorious creation! Heaven must be glorious and Max and Philip and all those redbone men and women that have gone before them are at pitch in feast with the Lamb of God!
Can't wait to meet them there....

Noah I still have 5 straws from that old double Famous Amos hound, half brother/sister cross with Amos in 3rd Gen top AND bottom......get a female to Nevergone and I will breed her for a single pup
No out crosses as all hounds go back to TC
