One of the biggest events in the local hound hunting scene takes place Saturday in Elizabeth City, N.C., when the Albemarle Houndsmen Association holds its 19th annual Social and membership drive dinner.

Come hungry.

The event features barbeque, cole slaw, baked beans, bear ribs, bear stew, potatoes, deep fried turkey, oysters, hush puppies, rolls and a ton of dessert.

This year’s gathering, held at the 4-H livestock building off Route 17, just on the south edge of the city, begins around noon. The turkey shoot starts at 1 p.m., oysters go into the steamer around 3 p.m., and dinner follows around 4 p.m.

The fundraising raffle also is a “don’t miss.”

There also are 50/50 raffles and several gun raffles.

Members of the Albemarle Houndsmen Association, and those who are eager to join, are invited to come out to this event and enjoy great food while having a good time. There will be lots of big game and small game houndsmen and also many door prizes! Please show your support!
