if your talking about Jon Henry, he is out of Banjo III and his mother is from Mark Lucus and Kelley Hyde's breeding programs.
if your talking about Shilo, he is out of Barnyard Horse Harry semen and Little Red's mother

Russ

Owns half of Jon, he may be Bought the other half by now just not sure. If I had to guess I'd say he has, he bought the half on 1 night of hunting with the option to buy all after 2 weeks.

Jon is heavy linebred on Joe Melton's stock of dogs on top..
His mother is heavy linebred on yellow river dogs on top, which are descendants of Fireball also, & her bottom side is Mr Kelley Hyde's line of dogs...

Jon's a nice dog & has won around $3000 since October 1st 2013 not bad for 3 months of hunting.. He is just shy of being a silver ch with around $3500-3600 won in 9 months & should make it in a few more months.

Hey that's GREAT!

Never been with John but have heard alot of good things about him and his sire. Of course he is basically a half brother to some that me and several other friends have thru his dam. The way he keeps stepping up looks like I need to do some real checking into him for breeding purposes down the road. With Russ pushing him or any of that crew they've got the bank roll to really push him far. I'm super excited to hear the news. My wife was trying to talk to me and I was like hunny you got to give me a minute to read this then we can talk.

I assure you with Andrew Bryan hunting him, that he doesnt need anybody's bank roll to carry him. They could probably compare bank rolls and the comparison would be very even. Andrew is one of the hardest hunters and best handlers around here. To get where he is now John has seen what most people dont understand a dog needs: shoe leather, a 22 rifle, plenty of good limbs and an alpha. We have the toughest hunting in the state in my opinion and if they can tree a coon in the swamp that andrew and i hunt then they deserve a place to stay. I can honestly say that John has treed a few in that swamp. Im not a redbone man but the dog can hold is own in any cast.

Brad

Andrew is a very standup Guy. He has done a lot with Jon & has a few more years to win with him, he took Jon from $67.50 to almost a Silver Ch in all open hunts but 1 in 9 months..

People on this very board would never give the dog credit for anything & look at him now everybody wanting a piece.. Funny if ya ask me? You talk about boot leather & green limbs but facts are the dog has to have it in them or they won't make nothing no matter how hard ya hunt them, I know of a few that has been said to be in 80 + hunts a yr for 2-3 yrs & still havent come close to Jon's winnings in the short 9 months being pushed!

Good luck & Congratulations Andrew Bryan your doing a fine Job!!

I guess your talking about Breanna when you mentioned a dog who has been in 80+ hunts.....
for the record, I never said she was in 80 hunts a yr for 2-3 years....
it was one year (when I was off work for 6 months and could hunt several small pkc week night hunts each week) when she was 2 yrs old and they were not all pkc hunts. The post where I mentioned that was on a thread where someone had asked about what % of the time a good dog should win its cast and at that time I responded that Bree had been in about 80 casts and had won her cast about 44% of the time.
also for the record...in her 4 year life she has raised several litters of pups and managed to win
over $2500 in pkc
was #2 redbone in pkc winnings as a 2 yr old
was #3 redbone in pkc winnings as a 3 yr old
went from registered gr.nt.ch. in 1 yr.....exactly 52 weeks
won high opp sex at southern redbone days as a 2 yr old
won high opp sex at national redbone days as a 2 yr old
won the akc ladies world championship as a 3 yr old (1st place, not just high redbone)
she was also the first and only redbone that I know of to win a pkc pro-am hunt.
She has won at redbone sectionals and redbone zone hunts as well.
Breanna picked up her wins hunting in many states from wisconsin to alabama and missouri to virginia and along the way she has proven she can tree coons and win in any type of terrain.....and that is what makes a dog a coon dog in my book! I look forward to seeing Jon and maybe getting to hunt with him if and when he comes up north. Maybe he can continue his winning ways up here in the midwest. The competition is pretty fierce up here and very few red dogs can dominate in my neck of the woods. I hope Jon can and does....it will be good for the breed, just as it is when any redbone shows it can win. alot of southern dogs have trouble when they come north....just as good northern dogs do when they go south. I hope he is one of those hounds you can drop anywhere and he still trees coon better than the other dogs that are cut with him....if so, I would say he will get plenty of attention and recognition....and not just from redbone people....but from those who hunt other breeds as well. Good luck to Andrew, and Russ, and Jon as well as everyone else promoting redbones. Here is hoping it is a great year for us all

It doesn't Brian....your the one who brought me and my dog into this thread by comparing her and Jon. If your going to do that....just have your facts straight and then I won't have to get on here and correct you. I don't have anything against Jon, and the only thing I don't care for about you is the way you word things in some of your posts when you bring up me or my dog....maybe I'm reading them wrong , but they usually sound kind of negative to me and many times you quote me out of context and thats why I get on here and set the record straight. In my opinion, Jon has proven himself a winner....but so has Breanna. Why don't we just agree on that much and wish both dogs well in the future. Who knows, maybe I will hunt with Jon in the future and he will impress me..... I may want to breed to him and you might want a pup from that cross....stranger things have happened

Mr Larry

I'm not sure if Russ bought all or not, that's Between Russ & Andrew I wish I knew also. But I can assure you either way Jon will be pushed.

Jon is owned by Andrew Bryan and Russ Bellar. I am hunting Jon and he is at my house. Matter of fact, I just cut him loose. Jon is a nice dog fellas he don't walk on water but he trees coons. I'm not going to say he's the best red dog around because i dont know I've never drawn a red dog at the big Pkc hunts I attend. I do not care to hunt Jon in ukc because he's already a grand night and I'm not driving to chase a trophy. I have a lot of hunting around my house and if u guys get ready to throw some money down and see who's got the best red dog feel free to come on this is ur invitation! Because u prob won't ever draw me at a ukc hunt less there throwing the cash on the table! Well guys I better go Jon just treed...and yes I'm toteing the rifle!

Yes Sir..

Might have to take up the challenge and see if Jon can keep up with his sister.... Although she will be out of commission for a couple of weeks due to being bred to Gr Nt Goshen Moe a half brother to Banjo III... I am thankful for all the redbones that are making the hunts and showing they can win just like any other breed.....Let's work together and take them to top. Andrew & Russ, I wish you the best with Jon and hope he continues to get the job done for you... Hoping to produce another winner, Lucas

Isn't James Lawrence "throwing the cash on the table" at Camilla the first weekend in Feb? I have heard from several people that know what a coondog is that Jon is a nice coondog. The fact that Jon has won almost $900 in state money in 3 months speaks for itself. Russ Bellar buying a part of Jon is a powerful statement in itself. But I guess that some people just want to see for themselves. I would love to see him go but I know that I could not keep up with him. Y'all don't have enough roads to drive around in those swamps. Good Luck in Pavo this weekend.

Thanks for the good.advice, and telling me what you think I should do..maybe someday I will "get a good gyp" and then maybe then I can breed her to Jon

You know, this thread is suppose to be about Russ Bellar, Andrew, and Jon....I set the record straight about my dog when someone else brought her into the conversation and compared her to another dog and quoted something I said about her out of context....otherwise I would never have mentioned her and would prefer to keep her and myself out of it. I have not posted much on the board in recent months and this is part of the reason why. I wish Andrew and Russ the best with Jon and hope I get to see him go sometime....Shane

I know your not chasing a trophy, but it would be nice to see Jon make a run at the UKC World Hunt and the finals are pretty much in Russ' back yard.
Has Jon ever been up north?
