It will be in effect on January 1, 2014. Please note that it is for the Garmin and not the Garmin Alpha.

Yep,
and with some pretty hefty restrictions that will be posted at the clubhouse before the cast leave out. If you plan on using it during a hunt, please read these before you leave to avoid conflict in the field.

U can bet their will be conflict over this until every body understands this rule fully. I beleive its a good thing. It helps protect your dog from dangerous conditions like roads and it will make the hunt smoother if every body would be honest. But not every body wants their hound to do the winning, they want to do the winning for them.

LOL.....Are you serious? The UKC rules are older than you are and almost no one understands them fully.

Its real simple, look at it all you want but don't make a call and expect the judge to go with it because of what the Garmin says. That's all they really need to understand. The only part I dread is the constant " my dog is so and so many yards over that way". Lets just keep all of that to yourself.

Well I'm glad to see them let us keep a tracking system on during hunt time and I think if a handler is crazy enough to call their dog treed just because their garmin says the dog is treed. I say let them go ahead and call the the dog treed.

You always could. You just make yourself suspect and leave yourself open for accusation.

Did UKC official say that? Or one of the many rule experts?

read the rulebook

Mine says nothing about taking pics of coons and calling a spade a spade. Who is afraid of getting the facts straight? Not like you brought a chain saw.
Heat seek in camera/ An infrared camera is a non-contact device that detects infrared energy (heat) and converts it into an electronic signal, which is then processed to produce a thermal image on a video monitor and perform temperature calculations.
Lets use all the technology available, we will eliminate a lot of circle trees, any body scared of the truth!?

On one hand, I can see that it will take a lot of the guesswork out, and hopefully keep folks from bickering, but I can already here, "My Garmin says my dog is 200 yards over that way, can we start that direction?!?"

I can also see the guy wanting to show the cast that his dog is not moving, but then not wanting to get it out of his pocket, when he is! Until everyone understands the rule, there's going to be alot of bickering over a double-standard.

And for gods sake, turn that beeper off!

I think the biggest problem will come when the judge says "Spot minused 125 for leaving tree" and Joe says " No way, my Garmin shows he hasn't moved an inch and if you don't believe me, look right here at the screen". Sure, the rules say you cant do, cant mention it to the MOH but anyone would have to be delusional to think it wont happen tome and again.

No they are not going to bar you. You just cant use it as proof. They have said it more than once. That being said if I can see a coon plainly enough to take a pic and the rest of the cast says they cant see it? You bet I'm going to take it and show everyone I see with a list of names that said it wasn't there. But it still isn't going to change the scoring of the tree.
