Just got 9 farms leased around Marion Illinois just wandering what the coon hunting is like the farmer I leased the farms from said there every were . Just trying to get a idea of the coon population and the hunting pressure around there. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

coon population is good. However, not sure where you're farms are leased but Marion is one of the fastest growing communities in our area. Subdivsions and town growth, plus leasing of ground for deer hunting has really taken it's toll on coonhunting.. Big deer and city water has caused a lot problems for coonhunting.. ha, ha, ha, ha.

Thanks for the info . The farms we leased are north of Marion close to rend lake.That was just the closest town I noticed if you don't care shot me a pm with a phone binder I would like to find some more info out on this part of Illinois

If you hunt around the edge of the lake the coon will run in under the rocks to hide. Hunt the egdes of the cornfields works pretty good for me.
