Hunting in the snow is one of my favorite times to hunt. Especially if its only 1-3" and a light snow that blows around good. The branches stay clean and the squirrel still move on the ground.
If its a deep hard snow, I usually wait a few days. Squirrels will den up for 2-3 days, but after the storm has passed, they usually get out and about. The problem with deep snow is they stay close to the den trees.
My dang house dog has soft feet, so after a long day or so of hunting in the ice and snow, she usually gets busted up feet. The dog does not mind it, but Momma usually puts a stop to hunting after the dog comes back all busted up.
The squirrels will hang out near the den trees and another good place to find them is in the pines. They often move in and eat pine cones.
