Honest Opinion !

What should be expected from a young Feist or even a cur at 11 months old that's been to the timber only 5 or 6 times that your totally hunting them by themselves ?

Not much. If the dog is getting out and hunting at all that's good.

Well she's doing that and using her nose well plus scanning the ground and trees, the only thing I really don't like is she's always checking to send where I'm at , I know it cuts training in time if u Luve where u can let them run loose , same as with coonhound pups !

That's normal and to be expected. With time in the woods, as long as their is squirrel there, u should see the dog getting better every time out.

I think most of them will check where you are at and I like them to. There are dogs that go until they are treed but most curs and feist will hunt out and come back in to check on you. Makes a great dog for walk hunting. If it is that she stays too close to you a lot of dogs will unitl they get more woodstime and better at hunting. I believe there are some dogs that will never get to far away from you. I don't have a Garmin. If I don't see my dog in 15 minutes or so I am pretty certain she is gonna get treed somewhere. I really wouldn't let it bother you because she hasn't been to the woods much and she may range out further with time. As far as running loose some people do and some people don't. When they are running loose they can pick up some bad habits that you could have nipped in the bud being out with her in the woods.

I like a dog that wants to hunt with me....Had one ran deer with she would make a circle hunt back towards me if she jumped and the deer left the block she would come back..If it made circles in the same woods u were in she would stay with it until you shot it or it left. She always knew where u were...Not many like her..
