Accurate Walker Lines

I will be purchasing my first coonhound soon and I don't want to make the wrong choice. I am looking for a treeing walker bloodline that is accurate. However, it has to be a medium to hot nosed dog. Some other ideal qualities would be large bodied, blow the top out of the tree kind of dog. Any suggestions to a certain blood line that is accurate and hot nosed?

Thanks. I'm not a huge fan of cold nosed dogs anymore, I am lookin for medium to hot nosed but still accurate. I hunted with a dog one night that I waited for two hours before he treed, only striking once every 5 mins maybe. He was 800 yards through fairly medium brush. He had the coon but for me, it wasn't worth it, because I had somewhere to be that night instead I was waitin on a cold nosed dog to make 1 tree when I could have made almost 3 with a hot nosed dog and still made it to where I was supposed to be that night. I don't mind a cold nosed dog so much on the weekends though

Why I like clover dog........ medium in size usually they maneuver in the wood well the have lots of energy an fast. Most of them get open quick and stay open good. Most are very hard tree dogs and have good locate. They suit most as a competion or pleasure hound. Although the not very cold nosed they can put on a show in think coons work a medium track well and fly on a hot. They are intelligent and trainabke. Ad even when coons aren't moving they try and get something going and have tons of heart

You actually have me really interested in clover dogs again. Everybody wants a hot nosed dog, but on night where the coons either haven't started moving yet, or there isn't much happening, I guess you need a SMART colder nosed dog that CAN PUSH a track. Do you know anywhere I can find some clover bred dogs in NC? Maybe even with a good hot nosed dog on the other side of the pedigree?

Right off hand I do not. But I have buddy who has a clover bred male with around $17,000 won in PKC he's a nice dog if you could find a female to breed I can make it happen for a pup I handled the dog in hunt a few Years back lm now handleing a Pup out of him that's nice.... I like the clover dogs but again I did say there's good and bad in all of them but clover is my preference. I won with oz when coons were moving when they were not moving. When the leaves were on and when they were off. He had tons of heart an never quit he was intelligent and trainable if ur interested and can find. Female let me know......... they aren't what I would call cold nosed but medium.... and they will get something g going when nothing is going on. Start treeing early...

You lose the nose, you lose accuracy. Just what I have seen over the years. Their are dogs in every breed that have cold noses and run a track to catch hot or cold. My old blues are cold nosed, but drive tracks with there heads up and get it done fast. You can have the same in a walker, just go find it.

Where are you from? I'd like to hunt with a couple good blueticks if I ever get the chance sometime. I've never hunted with a good bluetick, the only ones I have ever seen were not smart, and if they treed it was a opposum. But I heard if you find a good blue dog, you have something good

Good walkers for sure all in all they tree coon I'm a blueticker but they are nice!I can't stand empty trees and offgame and these walkers will have coon sitting and most don't mess with junk only thing I have seen I didn't like is they won't start a fight but they sure can handle themselves what I have seen if something fangs them they come unglued but dogs can't blow and jump and bump all they want

I like a dog that can run any type of track, hot, medium, or cold! Notice I said run, not BOO or GRUB around all night, freezing you to death trying to line a track out. Yet I have seen some VERY ACCURATE hot nosed dogs as well. Most of them will get through the country, slam a hot track, tree, and have the MEAT. I had one like that, treed a lot of coons with him. Racked up a lot of miles walking to him, but he was very accurate, ended up selling him for a pretty good chunk of change. Hot, Medium, or cold nosed means nothing if they can't finish their track with a COON.

Absolutley. True a truly cold nosed dog can get over their head every now & then, but a dog that beats & bellars every time they get on an older colder track are simply are lacking in that department. Sorry, but I can't stand to hear a dog standing on their head bellaring around when if they had enough sense they would shut their mouths & get it lined out & then open according to track. Sort of like bawling around in cut timber makinglittle to no progress. I'd rather one be quieter on a sure enough bad one opening here & there drifting then sounding like a bull bawling around while staying in one place or opening every time their foot hits the ground going around in circles trying to figure out which way it went. Rant done. lol

UKC DUAL GRAND PKC SCH TOUCAM SAM
If you can find one more accurate you breed to it.
Can give ref. Or you come hunt with him.11 years old
Hadn't hunted him in over a year. Took him out a few weeks ago made two singles with the meat. He has treed 34 in a row.and a bunch of 20's
Treed 200 coon in canada in a kill season. Can give ref.
He is the most accurate hound I've walked behind.
No pup's at this time.I don't hunt him as much being he has a tumor on his lungs.I will show him in woods
