ProPlan

Mentioned I might start trying to feed ProPlan Sport the other day while I was at the feed store. The owner who has been really good to help me immediately ordered 4 or 5 different ProPlan mixes. The one I am leaning to is the Sport 30/20. Fill me in on what you have seen with this feed. It is considerably more coastwise than what I currently feed but his price is less than I have seen elsewhere. I feel an obligation to at least give it a try.....sooooo...tell me what to expect.
Thanks!!

Ive had good results with ProPlan i feed the proplan savor beef and rice blend and my hounds love it. Their stool is firm coats are nice and they always seem to have lots of energy. i feed the savor in summer and sport threw the winter both seem to do well it is a little expensive but well worth it to me even feeding it to our german sheperd and she loves it also. just my opinion!

If you have a herd you can't afford to feed it. If you have just several your feeding the best. Only have a couple and feed them by hand 2 cups of the 30/20 Sport. PURINA spends big money on our sport and will buy PURINA products only. Go to the PURiNA site on the web and join the PURINA program. Save the weight circles off the bags and send them in for $7 rebate checks.

Pro Plan Dog Food Reviews
Top 5 Ingredients*

Chicken

Brewers rice

Whole grain wheat

Poultry by-product meal (natural source of glucosamine)

Corn gluten meal
Artificial Ingredients Yes
Contains By-products Yes
Price Range $
*Purina Pro Plan All Life Stages Chicken & Rice Formula was selected as the recipe for this ingredient list
Our Analysis
Purina Pro Plan dog food gets a low review for dubious quality and a number of harmful ingredients that canines cannot digest.

The first ingredient listed is fresh chicken, but because it loses eighty percent of its weight during cooking, it should be positioned lower on the list. The more probable dominant ingredient on the list is brewer’s rice, or fragmented rice leftovers from processing, which is a cheap by-product that does not have real nutritional value. The food also contains poultry by-products, which are not fit for consumption and can include anything from defective eggs to talons and beaks that contain no nutritional value and can cause digestive upset.
Additionally, Pro Plan formulas make heavy use of corn gluten meal, which has been stripped of all beneficial carbohydrates and lacks essential amino acids.
Overall, Purina Pro Plan is a dog food that contains many cheap ingredients and has very little actual nutritional value in comparison with many dog foods touted as premium, and is not recommended for most dogs.

Dog food analysis: thought I would post what I found at one web site. You can go to another site and it will be completely different, except for the ingredients list. There was even a recall notice on Pro Plan on this site. That's why I always say feed what you like and want to, I do and don't care what anyone else feeds. Analysis post is above. These dog food threads are like politics "my congress person is okay, but I sure don't like yours." LOL!

pro plan

in my 32 yrs of hunting and showing.. I have feed about all brands that are out there and have found purina pro plan to be the best ive ever feed your dog has plenty energy and will look and stay in better condition then they will on any other food.. my show dogs look great and have a coat that stands out with muscle that no other feed will put on them.. I work them very hard every day.. my hunting dogs have never run out of energy on pro plan and look just as good in condition and very muscled on it.. pro plan is by far the best feed out there...

I started feeding pro plan this year. I don't care what any reviews say. Dogs don't run out of energy. I have above ground kennels with spacing in the floor. I went from having to scrape it out every 2 weeks to never. Very clean and doesn't smell. I'll keep feeding it unless I can't get it

There is a website that sells Pro Plan for a lot less than retail if you buy 24 bags.

we feed EA for 2 years and just switched about 3 months ago to pro plan 30/20 n its the best ...yes you pay more but its like buying a vehicle the more you pay the better you get plus we would rather pay a little more for a company that spends thousands a year to sponser the sport we compete in compared to the company that dosent

43.00 for a 37.5 lb bag of pro plan . To me it's not worth it . If they made pro plan grain free with no corn ... I'd try it again but I honestly didn't see what the big deal was about pro plan

Pro Plan.......

Simply the Best feed available ............
Don't be fooled by the ingredients, Purina has been around a LONG time, they know what they are doing.
I have tried about every feed there is, it just doesn't get any better than Pro Plan.

Diamond EA / Purina Pro Plan

No comparison, Pro Plan def the better of the two....
I have had 1 of my hounds on EA for about 4 months, I have the other hound on Pro Plan Performance , they get hunted about the same, Both hounds are about the same size so they get fed the same amount of feed.....
I go thru the bag of EA faster than the Pro Plan. The one on Pro Plan just looks better, coat has more of a shine and def less clean up with the Pro Plan and the smell is a lot less with Pro Plan........just my observation .......Tim

No truer words have ever been spoken. Pro Plan is pure and simple the best dog food out there for a working dog. Pricey? Yes, but when you see your dog go and have the competitive will this food helps bring, you'll know it is worth every cent. Thank you to Purina for such a great food and contributing to the sport we all love so dearly from their pocket books.
