rebel question

Just curious why rebel isn't being breed to. This is a black dog that with two different handlers and being taken to every hunt possible produced cast wins. He didn't do it in his backyard. He did his winning and major events. Came in second in the purina race to his walker kennel mate, boodie. And won the race the folling year. I won't say he won the hunts he went to but he was a consistant cast winner. Isn't that what the other breeds jump on and breed to. I would love to see more pups out of him and what he could do for the breed. Same for hawk. He is on a roll. Just a curious question, not knocking anyother stud dog.

I think it would be interesting to know just how many B&T gyps worth breeding are out there ... maybe the better studs are breeding most of them and we are assuming there is a ton of good gyps not being bred to the winners.

Aside from that .. the Performance Program is a stud killer , for the cost of dna and $100 you have a stud dog !

Rebel sure covers all the bases ... Rocket , Albert , Ace , Eads , Smithurst , Smokey ... aint a gyp out there that he aint got a common ancestor to...

I'm a firm beliver that the female is a biggg determinatin in production. Just like in game cocks. Rather have one top hen than 10 cocks. A lot of talk on the board has been about studs. I was just curious about a stud that has wone a lot outside his comfort zone.

Rebel hasn't been in the right hands of someone to promote him as a stud. Clair was into hunting not breeding/studding and the other owners had several stud dogs and were more into hunting. He's a proven winner with a great ped....I know there were a few pups out of him and Cheyenne that were really doing it...

We might breed Brandy(littermate to Sue and Cheyenne) to Rebel, or Star(Cane x Cheyenne) to him. Both tree real live coons and are quick doing it.

Mr. Miller owned him after he did his winning and I believe swann did also. They let it be know he was for stud. And his current owner has posted on here he is there for inspection anytime. I'm really glad you are considering breeding to him. I really think putting rebel with one of the top females that we have in the breed right now woud help us.

I drew him twice when he was running the race. In 2 nites I watch the dog leave 6 trees with coon in them( well at leaast half of them had coon the others he was the only dog treeing and left after 5 or 6 min). I only saw him tree one coon in coon country. I usally don't say anything but I get sick of people who don't have a clue running there mouth about a great dog they have NEVER been to the woods with. Myself I like a dog that gets treed and stays treed.

No body running there mouth sir. I said he was a proven winner and that is the truth. He has racked up cast wins all over the country. This post was just a question not a post to bring out an argument. Spoke with mr.wall last night he was a first class man. Good luck with rebel

Too many "Studs" are bred to by people who assume there are the real deal because they have done some winning. With the right handler any dog can win anywhere. I am just telling the truth about the 2 nites I hunted with the dog. I could careless I won both casts I hunted against him. It's just the same thing over and over again on this board. As soon as someome speaks the truth about a dog they get slammed and the post gets pulled as i'm sure this one will.

Not pulling the post. I ask a question and you gave your answer to why you wouldn't breed to him. There will always be good and bad.

I appreciate your opinion and on some of your comments you are right when we bought Rebel we were told that he was getting hunt sour and didn't like to tree with another dog on a tree since then he has came back and he will tree with whatever. But to form a opinion on hunting with a dog for two nights is not a good reason to come on here and judge a dog if you would like come hunt with Rebel for a week and then come back on here and give your opinion I will personaly put you up and take you every night for as long as you wanna stay. For everyone else the offer extends to you as well.

Rebels good points are:
1.He has more go then any dog I have ever hunted

2. He runs a track to catch very fast

3. Don't need any other dog to go hunting

4. Seems to be putting drive in his pups

5. Accurate

Rebels bad points are:
1.Tight on the ground

2. Average mouth

3. He will over hunt his mouth.

everyone likes a dog that stays treed. I have hunted with rebel and every time I have looked up his tree there has been a coon looking or a hole you can see. and when he gets treed it takes you longer than five or six min to get to him if coons are not out and about and I have NEVER saw that dog leave a tree. and then I have saw him out of the box go 200 yards and fall treed. In my personal opinion its hard to win with a honest strike dog and that's what rebel is but he is a first tree dog and you have to see a coon in the tree to win. all the winning he has done you cant tell me that he won it all because of a slick handler. How many cast has he won so far? I cant wait to for my pup to get old enough to go to the woods. I will hunt a rebel pup any day of the week like was already said they got drive. Put your boots on and go with him. and I bet when he left all them coons your dog treed everyone of them.

Sounds like sour grapes........You don't win the Purina Championship one yr and runner-up to Bodie another yr by leaving trees.... Any dog that wins big has a good handler. Rebel was the real deal. Haven't hunted with him for awhile but at one time I would have put him up against anything....
