Astro 220 question!

How do I get the map on my astro 220 that shows where my dog has been? As of now it only shows a compass, yards and direction the dog is. Any help would be awesome! This is my first Garmin so I'm not to sure on how to use it. Hi tech redneck!

You will have to buy a SD card and load the maps or buy a pre loaded card you can get them from valley creek before you will have a topo map that shows roads streams and stuff. If you hit the map button now with no card it should still show you and your dogs tracks just no map

The best advice I can give you is get your manual out and read it cover to cover, twice! Do not be afraid to press buttons and see what they do!
The micro SD card goes in the compartment behind the batteries, that card will hold your "map data". If you bought this used, it may have one in there already but even though it is there, it may not have any map data downloaded in it for your area.
You can buy these map cards preloaded on an SD card that will be "plug and play" for your area but what is the fun in that? Go to gpsfiledepot.com and and download the map you need and learn to do it all yourself.

I do not think he has it in go to mode, I could be wrong. I think he just has it on the compass page and he has probably hit the map button, with no map card in the unit and it is confusing him because there is no map data.

A "black as card in it"????

Well, anyway, there is a latch you can open and see for sure whether or not one is in there.
Did you buy it locally? If so, if a card is indeed in there, you should see map data on your Astro when you you hit the map button. Scroll in or out some when you hit map and do not "see" a map.
If you bought it a far off from where you live, like off this message board or something, then the map data probably has not been downloaded to the card for your area and would explain why a card is in there yet you see no map.
