PINE RIDGE TUFF

Tuff is owned by James McCulloch of Hayti, Missouri. I've got a dog out of him that leaves in a run and gets treed with a coon. These are heavy Clover bred hounds. Hard hunting and very accurate.

Rocky, we should have this with the Coma boys or Bone pups.

But look at Zeb 3, they say he's throwing good ones. Maybe mix in a little Wipeout.

Maybe put this on the regular board or classifieds, don't think many people look here.

Were looking into Nocturnal Kane, from what I have seen and been reading, he is supposed to throw a lot of drive, independence, and accuracy.

I think some of this may be temperament related as well. Hounds have personalities just like any dog. Some are more independent and alpha like, while others are more pack dogs, and take to affection, and the company of others. I think both should be appreciated for what they are.

Something to think about

There is puppy temperament tests out there that can be given at 8 weeks old. To test for indpendence, and alpha like behavior.

Top German Shepard breeders use this to pick out pups for police training.

I would think the same could be applied for competition hunters.

I can't disagree with that. Tuff's daddy Wild Casey was the same way. You'd find him somewheres under a coon regardless of when and where you cut him.

I too have a dog off Pine Ridge Tuff. I wouldn't call him the hardest hunting dog I've hunted with, but he'll get parked somewhere under a coon whether it be 400 yards or 1.5 miles.

Some of the hardest hunting dogs I've hunted with weren't actually hunting until they had nearly gotten out of pocket. So many so called hard hunting dogs are runners that like to cover some ground before they actually start hunting for a coon.

it seems like finding a stud that has pups that will go hunting alone is one of the worst parts of selecting a stud. seems like too many bucket dogs and dogs from areas like ohio and indiana where they only have to go 100 yards to tree a coon....

funny

well drive is in genetics.there desire to go and go hard to find a coon.
yes some like to get away from the pack..and run a few hundred yrds
befor hunting.some go hard and right now looking for the track or the slightiest sent of a coon...some cant do it but are very tree minded..and don't have so much track on there mind.
Myself,i like a dog that will hunt the woods.on a fly..meaning there running with there nose in the wind.and soon as they smell that coon scent.the brakes are on and now figuring out the track..and get it lined out..and bawl..then drift fast and and lay deadly on the tree.
and that's the line I have strive for..but no one breeder..can promise u this in the pups.cause feamales out of different lines, will throw some of there traits..and its back to square one..but some will hold his trait.line breeding the family is my best experience.to dominate these traits.
