On Thursday June 27th in Garden City at the "Finnup Center for Conservation Education (at Lee Richardson Zoo)" will be the 2nd meeting the proposal to shut us coyote hunters down for the 12 days during deer season is discussed (because of deer poachers). I'm being told it will probably be voted on during this time.

If you were not able to attend the last commission meeting in April in Wichita please make every effort to make the next meeting! Myself and several eastern Kansas hunters attended and spoke. It's everyone else's turn now. We now need additional support from the western Kansas (all hunters for that matter) hunters to attend. You don't have to speak but show up and support. It's best to have 1-2 speakers on our behalf speak for us while the others introduce yourself before the meeting or on a break! They encourage this.

I've been told that there are 4 options they will discuss:
1) Shut it down for the 12 days during rifle deer season
2) Shut it down for the first 5 days of rifle deer season
3) Let us hunt during rifle deer season
4) Shut down all hunting during rifle deer season except rifle deer hunting

As I posted about back in April, this is not all about the 12 days or 5 days they might shut us down. Instead, it's about if they do take this time away for us, what's next!!

In talking to the commissioners again over this past week, they are starting to field more calls from the deer hunters and oppositon over the last month (including a deer association out of Georgia). We need more hunters to call!! Mrs. Bolton also suggested that if we know of any landowners to back us to have them call the commissioners as well! They want to hear from us. Not just that we don't want this, but why is this unjust to us. The commissioners are talking about making a compromise but this isn't right to still punish us coyote hunters over something we are not doing (poaching deer).

Commissioners to call:
Randy Doll - 316-393-4429
Robert J. Wilson - 620-231-5789
Gerald W. Lauber - 785-267-5522 (out of town until later this week)
Roger Marshall - 620-792-2151 (email: drrwm@cpcis.net)
Donald E. Budd, Jr. - 816-830-5277
Tom Dill - 785-226-2562
Debra Bolton - 620-275-4902 (very nice lady and the easiest to get ahold of. She is currently on the fence about this)

**The commissioners are hard to get ahold of. If unable to get ahold of leave a message and you can also email. Use this link to find there email links: http://www.kdwpt.state.ks.us/news/K...n/Commissioners
