Face barking

Can you break a dog from face barking? How much should that bother you in the comp hunts because face barking leads to a dog fight.

i had one that did it BAD at a year old, i started hunting him 100% alone, and now he doesnt do it. I think mine did it because he didnt know "where to aim his excitement" but most of the time, I dont think you an fix it

dont think you can correct this trait its bred in the dog either cure it or give him a lifetime nap the only other opition you have is hunt by its self i dont mind a dog that is mean around strange people at the house but i wont keep a dog that is mean around the tree

How long will you let someone yell right in your face before you punch them?

Then you get scratched because your dog rolled it over the hill or something.

my hoss dog did the same thing the first couple times i took him. he ran with the old dog and barked in his face the hole time he was treeing. i thought about it and figured maybe he don't know where he's supposed to bark so i backed up a few steps and got out the roll cage. drug it threw the yard and up a tree and he got the picture. now he's a belly on the bark tree dawg that could care less what the other dogs do

Mine saw one caged coon after the first incident, he never even looked up. Now he's all good, might even look up more than he should but i like him.

I hope u figure your the best solution for your dog!

face barking

It's real easy to cure, just cut his tail off------right behind his ears.

Its amzing to me how people claim they would be so quick to kill a dog for a problem like this without even trying to correct it. People expect their dog to have better manners than humans, and thats just plain dumb! The funny thing is if those same people ever owned a really good hound with a problem like that, they NEVER admit it and dang sure wouldnt kill it. They'd just swear up and down their dog didnt do that!

i'l tell you how to fix this

stand behind your dog on tree where he cant see you. wait till he gets in a dogs face. then hit him up side his head just as hard as you can with your fist & dont say a word. if you do this right & he assosiates this with the dog he's face barkin. he'll quit.

i'v busted 2 upside their head with the butt end of a 22 rifle & busted 1 with my fist. nun of the 3 done it again !!

the trick is stand behind him where he dont see you dislocate his head from his neck & dont say anything. might take him a couple nights to tree right after this but he will come back to it. this will stop it unless your hunting a real retard !!

I've probably had as many really good dogs over the years as the next fella, won Autumn Oaks, Walker Days and placed in the World hunt a few times. I may be dumb but if you think you're going to break one from face barking/fighting you're just kidding yourself, you'll light break them at the very best. Anyone who knows me will tell you I'll leave one laying in the woods, regardless of how good they are.

Guys, if your dog facebarks or chews, you can wear your self out or make excuses or you can man up and kill him. He's got the wrong genes.

face barking

Some people are so anxious to have a coon dog that will win for them that they completely disregard what they're doing to others. If they face bark they'll either cause a fight or start one, I agree most of it is inherited and if you claim or actually think you have the method to stop it, go public with it and you'll soon be a millionaire.

Most of your face barking problems start .When puppys start fighting over dog food..Its a possessive thing they want to possess the tree and not share.....Like most bad habits you have to break them when you first notice it..If you wait it really becomes a bigger problem the longer you wait...Some guys even like a dog to face bark some..Im not one of them......You can brake most dogs if you do it at a young age...But some dogs are flat out mean and they are just about impossible to break...But thats still not a reason to put a dog down.((Unless they try to bite people)).These types should never be used for breeding...They could be hunted alone many are...Ive known guys that put down dogs just for running off game..Some just becasue they didnt like the dog believe it or not.....

I don't know if it can be cured or not, but it tells you alot about what on the other end of the leash.
