who is still hunting their hounds in the south?

Im still trying to hunt but a lot of people are hanging it up for the year due to the warm weather. Any opinions?

Still hunting, it is still fairly cool up in N. GA though. Although the hunting wasn't the greatest last week. Went four nights and only had on strike and one tree with the meat. Had 3 nights of silence last week with the hound covering .75 of a mile before I went to pick him up lol

Been dogs cut out of bellys of alligators around here. It's hard find a place where there isn't an alligators around here. I like my dog alittle to much. It ain't a good feeling when your dog is treeing then shuts up and you look at your Garmin and your dog going across a pond or a big body of water then later on just finding a head. Ain't worth it to me!!

We are 45 mile of the coast on the Texas, Louisiana line and we hunt all year. Just carry plenty water and pace yourself. Try going at 3 or 4 in the morning when it gets really hot. Find a way if you want to hunt.

I live in east central Mississippi and hunt all year. I will say it is tougher on the hounds and I often have to let them lay in water while hunting.

My only complaint about summer time hunting is it gets dark so late. The weekend that is no problem but on a work night you can barely make 2 or 3 trees and be home before midnight.

I had 3 of my dogs snake bitten in one week. Give them Benadryl and in 2 days they're ready to go.

Here in south Louisiana during the summer you can see 80 degrees at 10pm with 90% humidity. If your dog is not used to these conditions it can be deadly. Make sure you have plenty of water and you get to the tree in a timely manner.
