MAJOR Judging question?????????????

I am a non hunting judge. 3 dog cast.

I get out first drop and say make sure ya garmin is off or leave it in truck. All say ok or mumble.

I walk in 100 or 200 yards and ask each man to pull his garmin out and show it to me I heard a beap.

If all three were on or two could I scratch them?

If one refused to give me his could I scratch him?

I would scratch them for having it on even if it was on mute. I mark truck and turn mine off.

Picky??? The rules are in place and need followed...ALL of them.

That's a problem with night hunts and honor rules...weak judges pick and choose what to enforce and what to let slide...there is no uniformity...

If a guy forgot the shut off a garmin that's one thing...being reminded of the rule and it was still on?? See ya next time...

I actually had no idea they beeped...now that I know that I now know in have heard it in the woods on casts...I always assumed it was a stopwatch or cell phone in a pocket....

Good thing to know...

.

I would venture to guess that a good 25% or better of the cast week in and week out have Garmins in use. Most just close their eyes to it.

The hunt time would have to be started before they can be scratched for it. If it has started then yes.

so he gives you one that is turned off! What about the 2nd one in his pocket that is turned on and muted. I know several hunters. that own 2. There are ways to get around the rules if you want to be a crook. FYI I only own one.

Why leave it on just to break the rules, most of you would whoop your kids for the same attitude. I take my son hunting wih me and it means more to me for my son to see me following the rules. I dont understand why you want to leave it on you can always call time out to turn it on or withdraw.

That being said I think it is a rule that needs to be looked at and considered in the future.

And yes I would scratch anybody that had their unit turned on after being warned.

WORLD ZONES

2 Yrs ago about the time the Astros came out ,we were hunting on Friday nite at the zones and 1 cast member had his on about 20 min into the hunt. We heard it beep & about that time he said sorry he forgot to turn it off. Carried.back to master of hounds & nothing was done about it. Said it was a honest mistake & he didn't use it to help win the cast.
