I’m 65 years old and my pup is 11 months. When I try to do anything with him, like put the e-collar on, he is like a fish - all over me. I’ve done the basic stuff too like leash and sit. He’s just wild. Don’t like to hit a dog, but I’m gonna get that **** collar on. If you know an easier way. please tell me. He’s not afraid of me either! Will come right to me. Trust me, this hound is tough. Have you owned one like that?

I have had dogs like that. I will do whatever it takes the hold that sucker down. I used to have one that loved to charge out of the box as soon as I opened the door.......he may have ended up with brain damage but he waited to come out of that box.

Different dogs are just different dogs and whats punishment to one means nothing to another. Ramp it up till it works!!

I can feel your pain, not to better you but I have one the same way and for a older person going on 71 they are a hand full BUT with that said the one i have may be the best one I have EVER OWNED and that is saying a lot comming from me had 3 prettyy good ones. Don't have any help I am lost also. WIRED 220 IN A 110 BOX. Great idea Perry I let him out every day same old thing WILD as a buck rabbit and hunt him a LOT same old thing again.

Huckfinn, give this a shot. Get a short double coupler or a leash with a double coupler. Hook the dog on one side and hook the other side to the kennel. He may still try to jump around but you won't be fighting him and trying to put the collar on at the same time. Hope this helps

Huckfin,

Make sure you use the dummy collar, and condition him to the collar. You want to get his attention, but you don't want him to go into fight or fright response.

If you are not sure what conditioning a dog to an e-collar is let me know, I will post it on here for you.

Also, if you don't mind, can I ask you how you pet and reward your dog? You can work on making him a little more manageable by only rewarding him when he is calm. It may take some work, but it does work.
