What does losing GPS lock mean is wrong? Both my collars were doing that Thursday night. I was hoping it was just the area I was in.
If both collars did it, I would not be too concerned.
Think about a dog that is bad to tree in hole, a hole big enough for the dog to get his head and neck in. That will block the the GPS receiver's ability to read satellite telemetry and cause the collar to report poor "GPS coverage". When the dog pulls his head out, GPS telemetry starts coming in again on the collar. Sometimes this can happen without a dog getting in a hole but if your collar does it alot, you more than likely are fixing to have problems. GPS lock problems are rare with today's receivers, including the receivers and collars for the Garmin system.
Some of the first generation GPS handhelds for public consumption were bad for this, but as time progresses and receivers become more "sensitive", due to technology, these problems are not very prevalent.
The guy's collars I worked on would not make gps lock like they should. Dropped out often so they went back to Garmin.
