There was a hole about 10 foot up the tree. I climbed a smaller tree next to the den and I stuck my phone in the hole and took the picture. After we left the tree we could hear them crying! It was pretty cool.

Great pic!!
Cut down a tree once on April 1st when tree hit ground it burst open and sow coon ran off had 4 kits inside. They looked like baby possums didn't have any hair but you could faintly see the rings on tail looked like they were in the skin. It took 21 days for them to open their eyes. These look about 2 weeks old by the hair they've grown. Didn't know coons up your way would have a litter this soon.

I have shot coons up until our kill season which ends annually on March 15.I will open there gut and make a note monthly as to what most are eating .I have found very vew sow coons in my woods with lil ones in them. Now keep in mind I only kill maybe 20% of what I tree and 1/2 may be boar coons.I have seen very few that were showing to be bred as soon as mid March, many were not developed enuff to have hair around March 15,Some as small as a grape or lil bigger.I have heard many crying in the den around April/May.Now I dont know how the coon rut in other states but my dad always said 2 weeks mid Feb you will see coons moving more than anytime of the year,Just food for thought.

kitten coons

When i was younger i hunted year round. From about Feb until June i would not kill a coon that ran less than 30 minutes!!! At that time of year if a coon runs over 30 minutes it will always be a boar coon or a barren sow. All pregnant and nursing females will not run but a few minutes; and my system protected them!!! I still follow the same system but don't hunt as much as i use to.
