Fishing Kayaks

For some reason or a other i've been struck by the desire to get a fishing kayak and i'm just curious if anybody has any past experiences or advice for a novice i guess where i'm laid up from this back surgery i have to much time on my hands i'll be mostly fishing small streams and lakes not much big water

I would rather have a Coleman Crawdad or the one that Bass Tracker puts out,,,Little twin pontoon boats, one heck of alot more stable with swivel seats ,extra storage etc. One man can slide it right in the back of a pickup . IMO just the ticket for small streams and small lakes . Oh yeah i've used kayaks back in my younger days ,no more .

I've never done it,

but you sure see more and more of 'em arouund here. I live near the Atlantic Ocean and you see a lotta guys fishin' out of 'em offshore and in the Chesapeake Bay and it's tributaries.Talked to a guy one day down at Rudee Inlet in Virginia Beach. He told me that he's caught everything from spot & croakers to sea trout & flounder to even sharks.WOW!!!

I actually have a 8 ft bass hound it's a really nice little set up with live well dry storage two swivel seats and it's on a trailer but can be a little tough to handle when i'm by myself i've never fished out of a kayak but thought it could be fun and i love to muskie fish in some of the smaller streams here around home hooking to one in that little 8 ft boot is fun just thought it'd be like hookin to ole moby dick in a kayak

About the only fishing I do anymore is fly fishing for trout in northern Michigan. The only boat I use is a kayak. But I use mine mostly to get down the river then I get out and fish in good spots. If you have questions about boats or set ups let me know and I'll try to help.

Can't see it very well but this is a 12' Wilderness Systems Pungo. Grass it up for hunting season and put a rod holder on it for fishing season.

These personal pontoons are another nice option. I used these for a couple years and liked them. The kayak is just a little faster to get from spot to spot. But these pontoons are easy to load and safe on the water.

I've been looking at the Hobie Mirage i really like the foot propulsion and i just feel like a kayak will be able to get me to a few places other types of boats won't plus i fish alot by myself i've been on the fence about the sit on or sit in i want to be able to fish in the cooler months and not get wet but i like the added room of the sit on i'm sure i could wear something to help keep my dry and warm if i was to go with the sit on

Yeah that was a good hunt. Last day of duck season. December in Michigan and the mallards were just starting to come through.

Yeah it looks pretty cool, loaded with options. You can even mount a trolling or small motor on the back!

Just now watched a show on the Outdoor Channel ,that was about Jackson kayaks ,2 man job ,swivel seats ,,looked really stabil with 2 guys fishing out of it . I lied the seats don't swivel but you can raise and lower the seats for leg comfort .

it's got to have capacity for a couple dogs if i'm buying one. we lost a marine here a few months back. don't know what happened. he was found drowned on one side of the creek and his kayak was on the other.
