Just Me? Anyone else ever? CB Event Listings and directions
I first would like to thank all the MOH and those associated with putting on events. It's thankless I'm sure but for those of us that hunt its very much appreciated.
I'm posting this hoping that clubs will take the time to check the directions and phone listings associated with their hunts. When folks travel long distances the directions you put into the magazine and online are all that hunters have to find often times obscure spots.
Now the reason for this post... Drove two hours to a hunt last nite to be four minutes late. Yep I know, late is my fault and I didn't ask anyone to change anything.
I called the first contact number listed and a woman answered, I asked for the contact name listed and she said there was no one there by that name. I apologized for bothering her and called the next number. No answer on two occasions on the other number.
The directions listed said go a certain mileage so, that seemed like a reasonable thing to do. I went the mileage indicated however found that it was wrong. Either a misprint or someone gave them the wrong mileage distance. I went about twice as far as was necessary.
The extra 30 to 45 minutes cushion time was ate up driving around aimlessly tryin to find it on my own with nary a truck with a dog box anywhere in sight.
I was ready to turn dingleberry...lol
Yep I was late.... My fault should have given more time.
So here is the post just in hopes that in times that a gallon of gas is about 30 bucks a quart that folks would take the time to check their directions listed. Maybe save someone from the experience I had last night.
It seems more important when clubs are struggling to get hunters from out of their areas and numbers are already low.
Not bashing, just asking.....
