any help?

I have a 9 month old pup and never hunted before. I'm trying to train him but having a lot of difficulty. Hes interested in a caged coon but not a drag. And I cant trap a coon right now to save my life. Ive took him hunting several nights in the last week but hes never tracking coons always something else. Any help will work and if anyone is local I'd really appreciate it if you could help. Thanks

stop showing him the coon one is good enough now just when you catch one turn it loose give it a head start and let the pup find the track i like the run the coon up a tree myself that way i know which tree it went up in and i can mark it and keep a close eye on the pup while he works the track dont worrie about him worken drags i hardly do them i wait until the dog trees a coon and i knock it out ot him then illl load him up go somewhere and tie a rope to that coon and make a nice long but easy drag for the pup to work then go get the pup and turn him aloose and let him work the track if he trees it i until the rope and let it fall i like to pull it up about 20 foot high when i do that also and the biggest thing that will help you more then eny in patience he still has alot of time
