Not sure what my pup is doing, need advice

I am a youth and I just got started coonhunting this year. I'v got a female bluetick thats 7 months old. She has treed once but it was a caged coon I had let go. I'v been hunting her by herself and she has been trailing and treeing but when I get to her she runs off and hunts again and wont stay treed. What should I do? Any advice is appreciated.

Cut your light off while your going into her on the tree if you catch her on the tree chain her up then walk off turn your light off wait 15 menutes or so then go into the tree if she has a coon don't shoot it out on her wait until she stays treed until you get to her with your light on befor you shoot one out to her if that don't work and you know someone who has a nice dog hunt her with him she needs to build confidence on the wood but then agien she could be light shy whatever you do you don't want to scald these type of dogs on the tree if they tree a possum just leash them up and don't say nothing to her when she trees a coon you praise her getting on to these type of dogs will make this problem even worse even when they start sticken and holding the wood.

I'm going to hunt her again tomorrow night. I'll do what you said and post how it comes out. Thanks for the advice!

You have a puppy so don't expect alot. at this age concentrate on obedience and bonding. Sure take her on hunts but don't expect too much and don't over due it. If you want to trap a few and turn them loose do it but make sure each time the pup uses its nose and not eyes to tree the coon. If you shoot one out shoot to kill. Hounds do not need to fight to get worked up. How many pointers need to fight a quail to make them better bird dogs?

I went tonight and I cut her in some marsh. She ran out about 100 yards and opened up on a track and ran it about a half a mile. she never did tree, think it might have been a deer. What do y'all think?

She usually starts a coon trail with a long deep bawl and bawls every 15 secs or so and thats what she did last night. She stoped bawling for about a min 1/2 and started up again. By this time she was far off so I went in and followed her. She went throught the woods about 400 yards then through the edge of a coon field then back into some more woods. When I finnaly cought up to her she was running zig zag though another corn field. Does that sound like a deer?

Naw to me it don't she just had a old coon that out smarted her is what might of happen next time she does it don't go and get her let her figure the track out even if its a deer I use deer to train my dogs to track sure they are born with the tracking abilitie and treeing but they need to hone their skills and nothing will hone thier tracking more then a few deer races up and down creeks across pounds etc if their gonna make coon dogs they will break themself as they age if they don't they will just be a dog that can tree coons but is not a true coondog.

If the coon are in rutt in your area it could have been a wide running boar coon as well.

A deer track is normally very very fast, and typically in a straight line as straight as an arrow, sounds like an old smart coon to me.....
as far as staying treed, you can take her hunting with an old dog, and if she doesnt stay at the tree with the old dog, then tie her back and shoot the coon to the old dog and dont let her get ahold of it.
