The question you asked and the answers you get will be two different things. You asked "whats the best dogfood on the market?" The diet best for any dog is one that closely mirrors that of which the canine biochemistry has evolved on. What you'll get here is a bunch of second rate suggestions based on knowledge much less than what it takes to put kibble in a pan for one. In other words, you'll get the cheerleaders promoting their favorite claiming it is the best when study after study refutes them. To compensate for their pizz poor knowledge of feed, nutrition, and conditioning, they will emphatically state that "Well it works for mine and thats all that matters to me!" They will walk away just as dumb and you will be more confused than when you started and be no closer to having an answer that will do your dog any good. Feed the best that you can afford. Price is generally reflective of quality when it comes to dry kibble. At least you will know that you are ahead of most of your competition in that area.

Try buying food direct. I gave up on retail a year ago, maybe longer. Dr. Tim's Pursuit is what I use, 30/20, top food that when you buy direct on a 50 bag order you can get it for about half retail price with shipping. We pay $1.05lb delivered, no tax.

Inukshuk is another great food. It is a bit cheaper delivered.
When I priced it it was $.80lb delivered.

Both are good ways to go.

The less expensive brands are not a good deal where I live. Its not worth paying $1lb for Diamond or Loyall. Even SportMix is about $.90lb.

Dr. Tim's is a superior food, battle tested in Alaska. Had three teams place in the top 10 of the Iditarod including First Place last year. Cross Wind Kennels placed 3 of the top 5 at the Endurance Invitational this year.
