Jeep

Who on here uses a Jeep when coon hunting? Is there enough room to haul dogs? Looking at some Jeep Wranglers (hard top), because of ability to get around, but wondering about everything else about owning one. Anyone? Pros and cons? Thanks.

I hunt out of one I took the back seat out and put a chain across the back to snap them in

I hunt out of a 1988 2 door Cherokee. Bought it back in 2006 off of ebay for 300.00. I stuck a bunch of cash into it. Needed a lot of work. 4 wheels like crazy. I took the back seat out and put a piece of 3/4" osb down. Slides in and out easily.

The little XJ ( Cherokee/ Wagoneer ) Jeeps are awesome. I have had 3 of them now. They will get around good. I replaced the front coil springs with the coil springs from under a 1979 F150. That will raise the front end up about 2.75 inches. Throw a set of 3 inche blocks between the leaf springs and axle on the rear and you have just lifted it 3 inches. Now you can get enough tire underneath it to go places.

I replaced the front coils with a stock pair of xj's. I replaced all the ball joints, tie rod ends, drag link, idler arm, pitman arm, wheel bearings, brakes, rotors, calipers and the axle u-joints.
I replaced the lower control arms with WJ lower control arms and nos upper control arms, .. Upper ball joints are adjustable. Then I did an aligment. The rear was sagging. So I did a bastard pack and that raised the rear 3". At that point I thought about the ford springs or a set of mj springs to raise the front. Didn't feel like re-doing the front end aligment. She's perfect were it is. I still run 225-15's on steelies. Keeps the speedo accurate. I still get 20 mpgs out of her with BA10 5 speed tranny. Glad I can do my own work. After all.
It's up Jeep thing.
