Garmin Alpha ?

Are the DC 40 and DC 30 collars compatible with the Alpha hand held unit?

No they are not. But if you run a shocking collar and a tracking collar then I think it would be worth it to upgrade to the Alpha system.

ALPHA?

only thing with alpha system is that if shocker quits, you lose gps too while getting repaired.

30/40 collars won't work on it either,what a crock!!

i'm staying with sepperate units

What didn't you like about it?

You are the first person I have heard from that does not like the Alpha. I love mine.

I have the garmin 320 with map card. I have way points, tree's marked etc. If I get birds eye will they still show up? Can't you some how over-lay the birds eye on top of the topo maps?

im not saying i hate this alpha system, but if i were to choose again it would not go with the alpha.

as soon as i got it i noticed it would show the dogs in a totally different dirrection then they were so i had to upgrade the software. it would also show the truck in the opposite dirrection. good thing i dont totally trust it to get me out.

also, being a touch screen, when i put it in my pocket and pull it back out it is on screens i have no idea what they are. the one time it deleted one of my dogs out of the system.

if im training i have to turn th shock all the way back down to 1 so i dont shock them on accident. they should have put some type of gaurd around the buttons like tritronics transmitters do.

and last, they claim they couldnt make the 30s and 40s compadable because of now being able to track 20 dogs off one alpha. who needs to track 20 dogs? i would say the majority of consumers would have been fine with tracking only 10 and using their 30s and 40s.

the things i dont like are pretty much the features the alpha has over the 220 and 320. it is paid for so im sticking with it but my opinion is if you already have a 320 just stick with it. no sense selling for less than you paid for it just to down grade to the alpha.

^^The screen can be locked on the Alpha so it doesn't change pages while in your pocket.

Press the power button on the right side, then touch the lock symbol that appears on the bottom right of the screen. This will lock the screen. To unlock it do the same thing, press the power button and then touch the lock symbol again.

it will automatically over lay the topo over the birdseye. you can also go to the map selection page and enable or disable either one at any time .. you will have both maps to use independant or together.

Should be the same quality picture, Alpha has a bigger screen though.

The real question is WHY wont the Alphas track the 30s and 40s? I bet a guy could make BIG money reworking all those collars so the Alphs could track them. Probably just a frequiency change?

I think it has to do with the added security features the TT-10 collars have. They have more finely tuned frequencies and codes for both tracking and training that have. Unlike the Astro collars where you just chose the channel and could track them with any other Astro.
