Garmin 220 or 320?

OK guys I'm looking for opinions. I'm thinking about getting into a garmin and away from my old Johnson unit. Tell me wich you like better and why. Any info will be appreciated.

Thanks

garmins

The handhelds I wouldn't mind either one but it's the collars you gotta watch 320s will drop in and out on hollers and hills, if you just have a longer antenna on the DC40 then you will be fine in my opinion a DC30 with a 320 is the best set up because you dont gotta worry about the collar and the held is a new verison and it's water proof and its just a great set up.

The 320s lock on the satellites faster.

The 220s will get the job done, but I would get tired of standing around waiting for it to link up. Sometimes it may take up to a minute for that to happen. With the 320, as soon as it boots, its locked on. Also, if you ever see the BirdsEye on a 320, going back is like looking at an old movie in black and white.

320 is better than 220. Links up faster more user friendly mine doesn't loose signal like my 220 did. I don't think the DC30's are as good as everyone make them out to be. They're a pain to charge and even with better antennas will drop off a lot.

I bought the 220 as soon as the first generation DC30 collars came out and since the second generation DC30's have come out, I have had very little trouble with it. A buddy of mine has a 220 with a DC40 collar and he fights it every step of the way. From all of what I have read, keep the collars and units like this and that is the best combination:

220 with DC30 collars
320 with DC40 collars

To me it just seems like when you match them the other way around people just fight problem after problem. I would sure enjoy a Birdseye view, but if something is working well, I don't like to mess with it, so I will probably stick with the 220 til it dies.

Glad you made this post as I just traded my 220 (which wasn't tracking very good anymore) in for a 320. Can't wait to get it!

I would get the garmin alpha all day long.. Ten times better... Last weekend I guide a cast out of my local club after the hunt we had all the dogs but one an that dog we hadn't heard for prolly 20 or 30 min.. Bruce turned on his garmin alpha and it said his dog was tree at .60 of a mile away but we couldn't hear him.. We jump in the truck and drove to we're it had him treed.. Come to find out the dog was 30 feet bck in a tile and the garmin alpha still had him picked up at over a half mile.. That its self shows that the garmin alpha is the way to go in my opinion..
