Painting with too wide of a brush

Travis, as with many other subjects on this message board, I would wager your definition of "me tooing" vs. other folks definition is quite different.

It is nice when ole blue will get his/her own thing every now & again.

I would not keep a hound long that couldn't perform at a top level when hunted alone. This is very important to me if their eating my feed. I want one to go right if the coon does even when the others go left. I like a hound that will tree with other hounds without issues. The loners often have issues. I won't tolerate a hound trailing around, treeing slick 30 yds away and not covering just because there jealous. I'll get right in the middle of the counterfiet things. The best way to get a hound to split tree a bunch is to hunt them with ol gentle fang when their young.

depends on the coon population to some degree. in thin coon its hard' not near as easy to have dogs split tree often.

When a dog leaves his or her tree to pull to another dog is when I really start having a problem that I will not put up with. If they are running the same track , if my dog don't get there first, I expect him to back another dog if its right.

bring something like that down here and you will go home a changed man when they are split about a mile apart and three hills between

Me too

is bad, they have to have the confidence to take the track their on to the finish... Alone or if others are on that track, if alone they gotta stay hooked, regardless of what others are doing or a gun cracking !!!! Take em as they come and stay.... Those crazy, go the other way no matter what, no honoring or staying with another dog are worthless to me.... IMHO should never be bred... That excessive loner stuff will never live here... Ya gotta have brains and balance in all departments.....

Well said. That's something not everybody does. You'll never know what you have until you do.
